French FM warns of Israeli strike on Iran nuclear sites
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner warned in comments published on Sunday that Israel would strike archfoe Iran before it succeeding in developing nuclear weapons. "I honestly don't believe (a nuclear weapon) will give any immunity to Iran," Kouchner said in an interview conducted in English with Israel's Haaretz newspaper during a two-day visit to the region. "First, because you will eat them before. And this is the danger. Israel has always said it will not wait for the bomb to be ready. I think that (the Iranians) know. Everyone knows."

New Zealand Beachgoers Mistake Fog for Tsunami, Prompting Panic and Evacuation
A trick of the light on some sea fog created havoc on a New Zealand beach Friday when people saw what they thought was a tsunami rushing towards them. A man who alerted beachgoers was called a “hoaxer” and taken in for questioning over the incident at Kairaki beach, north of Christchurch, but police later said he was not the only one fooled. Police decided the man's concerns were genuine and the apparent sighting was confirmed by fishermen in the area, Senior Sergeant Tony Ellis said.

Africa Command represents shift at the Pentagon
WASHINGTON: For decades, Africa was rarely more than an afterthought for the Pentagon. Responsibilities for U.S. military affairs across the vast African continent were divided clumsily among three regional combat headquarters, those for Europe, the Pacific and the Middle East. Commanders set priorities against obvious threats, whether the old Soviet Union and then a resurgent Russia, a rising China or a nuclear North Korea, or adversaries along the Persian Gulf.

    Globalization, here we come!
It is obvious that the fall-out of the U.S. financial crisis, not only in the U.S., but throughout the world will be enormous and unfathomable for months to come as the debris is sorted out. But one effect already seems to be clear and far-reaching: the crisis and its implications for the world outside the U.S. already indicate that the pace of globalization will be given a further spurt. It will lead to a whole new plateau of intensified relationships on the economic, and therefore, the political plane among the world players.

Scientists close to cracking wheat's genetic code
LONDON (Reuters) - Scientists believe they have found a way to map the hugely complex genetic code of wheat, the staple food for 35 percent of the world's population. Ahmadinejad: The Hague a tool for superpowers to suppress others
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Sunday denounced the unjust and heinous action of the Hague in indicting the Sudanese president.
