I met a little girl at the shelter here tonight.
-I don't know the logistics on annonimity (sp?), so I won't use her first name since it's pretty original-
I had the blessing of meeting this precious sweetheart and watching her paint beautiful pictures as we talked. She is 8 years old and has a younger brother close to her age. They arrived here in Austin yesterday with their grandmother.
I want to share a little bit of our conversation together:
As she sat painting, I was sitting next to her telling her how beautiful her pictures were. She said that some people didn't like them. I told her that they must not know great artwork when they see it.
She then told me that her mom loves the pictures she made at home.
That's when I asked her if her mom was there.
She said no, and added that she hasn't been able to talk to her since the storm. Her mom was in New Orleans. (I don't know why she was in a different area. At that point, I stopped asking questions and just let her talk about what she wanted to.)
She said that her grandma thought they might see her at the airport, but she wasn't there either.
Oh please prayer warriors, pray that this little one will be reunited with her mother. I know there are so many needs out there. This little girl just touched my heart so. Her innocense in the whole matter and the fact that she seems to be oblivious to the fact that she may never see her mother again...
I'll see her again tomorrow, but I'll probably never know if she found her mama in the long run. I know that God has a plan for this family though, with or without a mom.
In His care,
Tammy
