Thank You Thank You Thank You.

I dunno what I'd do w/out any of you!!

I've been holding on Strong to Jesus as He's been so active within me that the desire is slowly slipping away. I love knowing that and I love feeling free and to not desire it as much.
Each day is a struggle. Today is a good day, no desire! I will say that tomorrow too. Wkends is where I struggle most.

I'm going to do what Faith said, to get my Bible and get in to the Word when I feel the desire.

You do the same Jerry!! Many men (mostly men) I believe struggle with this and women are used for their addiction. Our media continues to make $ off women and some women are silly enough to not care. I will pray for you too.

Just wanted to give an update and thank you all. I love you all and the Lord will continue to use you for many others.

    In His Love & Care.

    Felicia

    Felicia,
I will pray for Jesus to free you from your addiction.

I know what being an addict is like.
For many years I was addicted to cigarettes. I gave that up about 8 years ago.
But one addiction still haunts me, and that is pornography.

I don't know when or how it all started, or even why.
I feel like a filthy hipocrite when I talk to anyone about Christ, because I know what a sinner I am.
Although I don't view it as much as I used to, I'm still not where I want to be, which is 100% free.

You're not alone in your struggles (believe this)

    Jerry

Hey, just thought of something, when you get the urge to drink or whatever things you might face like that - grab your Bible and read and pray right then. That will help put on the 'full armour of God'.

And here's a verse that just came to mind for you to say when you feel tempted:

    (KJV)
    Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Just think a true Christian has INFINITELY so much more resource to get thru anything in life if we go to Him and give the weight to Him to lighten the load. We have the HS that the world does not have. And the "MANY" professing Christians do not have. And we have His Word which the HS makes understandable to us as well.

    (NASB)
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

(That's why I believe it's also very important to stick w/the translations closest to the originals - to get the Word of God that really is living and active, not the many new book versions that fit today's new more world-based views, opinions, & teachings.)

    PTL!

I just wanted to take this time to PRAISE THE LORD for all those that have come alongside Felicia thru her tough time. Just shows how much love, grace, mercy, compassion God's children have for others hurting.

Just reading thru this thread and many other threads here as well is so touching. Shows the love & light of Christ in action. There's no greater love than to be in the loving arms of our Lord forever. Amen!! ping:

Felicia, I hope you can see God IS very much answering your prayers by also bringing many Christians to encourage you along the way. A lot of times people don't realize that God IS already starting to answer their prayers as HE many times uses brothers & sisters in Jesus as well. And HIS HS work does the greatest work of all.

Hey on a side note. The Lord taught me something long ago that I hope will make you feel better, too. If you're feeling guilty or yucky about something that you've done (not the dwelling in it thing, but the just knowing it's wrong and you don't want to be a part of it anymore feeling) than you KNOW that's a very good thing. Means the conscience God gave you and His HS ARE working to put HS red flags out and make you NOT want the bad. If you DIDN'T feel anything was wrong, then THAT would be a bad thing. So, you are on the right track by admitting and confessing.

And remember that GOD IS listening AND IS answering your prayers. Just grab on and hold on tight to Him. Really immerse yourself in His Word and prayer and take it one day at a time. The Lord will get you thru this.

Felicia: I haven't been reading much ;ate;y--busy with the house building.

Fall down and get up and keep going. Its the Spirit in you that gets you up to keep the faith. Yes you will fall but get up confess your sin wash in the Word and keep going onward. I have struggle with the verse that tells us that we are more than conquerors in Christ . But as I've come to understand it, I realize that when I belong to Jesus God's Son , I am "IN" Him and He conquered sin and death and all manner of evil incl the Devil himself on the bloody cross, so we are free in Christ it is our status. The reality is that we struggle with the flesh and up and down we go with our besetting sins--but one of the reasons I jump for joy at the thought of heaven is that I will have a new body not one of flesh--- and the Spirit will not be hampered I will be perfect and reflect Him as He is perfect. I can't wait for the day that I will experience being more than a conquerer through Jesus Christ 'in reality' as well as 'position'.

Keep struggling , keep asking for Help from the LORD who loves you and
remember His treatment of Peter, David, and the woman in adultery. Heloves you and will never leave you. Dont rely on feelings as He will often feel like He is not there for you but go tot he scriptures and stand on what 'they' say--that is faith. He is Emanuel--God with you. Remember Christ fought the devil by standing on scripture. Remember Hagaar who ran away from Sarah because she had been teasing Sarah and Sarah was mad---God saw her alone and by herself, not of the covenant even but crying and alone with her son--- God revealed Himself as El Roi the God who sees me--this spoke to me in a dark period of my life --I thought wow--my God 'does' see me in the midst of the sea of humanity--He sees me! I was helped by a Kay Arthur Bible Study book called LORD I WANT TO KNOW YOU--the best life changing study in my life. She has also written LORD HEAL MY HURTS --another tremendous BS book. More of her Lord series in Bible study are: LORD GIVE ME A HEART FOR YOU, LORD ONLY YOU CAN CHANGE ME. What I like about Kay's books are that they focus on what the Word has to say about itself--not what I think or feel--you become intimate with the text when you are done and it lives in you--to heal and change you in the power of the Holy Spirit.

I'd like to add to what others have said to you about this.
I asked that of my mother who prayed to be forgiven when she was drinking one night (and things did not change for her).

A dear friend of mine said to me, "Do you think God hears the prayers of me when I overeat and am slothful? Or how about prayers of the prostitue? Do you think He can hear their prayers?"

    "Of course!"

"Then why would it be any different in this sin?"

All of us here have sins we battle, yet our loving Father listens every time. No matter how many times we have asked or messed up. Count yourself among those that are blessed and we (with you) will plead the blood of Christ to help you out of this.

    Love to you...

    In His care,
    Tammy

I know He hears you. I think His hearing is even more sensitive to cries from the pit. Be encouraged. Psalm 40 that Faith referenced is the exact same one I was going to mention. So many of David's Psalms are cries for deliverance...from his enemies and situations he himself put himself in.

Keep crying...He hears you and loves you.

    Will continue to pray

Re: I'm letting go & letting Jesus take over & He will as I type

Hey girl. One of the times I remember the Lord trying to reach out to me the most and pull me back on the right spiritual path was as a Christian when I started hanging out w/the wrong crowd and got pulled into the world more. I was a young adult and that time of living very worldly was temporary - just as yours will be too. Remember, when you're a Child of God, you are NOT of this world. The point is to say that YES GOD HEARS YOU even when you're not living the way He has set out for you.

And please remember, we ALL make mistakes. Just think, Adam & Eve had GOD Himself walking and talking RIGHT THERE WITH THEM and yet they still committed sins so great that we were all affected by the curse. They had the perfect situation - GOD right there to talk to, the perfect environment around them, God's guidance for how to live, and getting to enjoy the Garden of Eden. So, no Christian is so great that they can claim they never sinned or that they wouldn't ever do that, as Scripture says ALL have sinned and fallen short of His glory. And no one is righteous, not one. That's why it's only HIS righteousness credited to us that counts and saves us eternally. Because we can't save ourselves or be great enough to keep ourselves saved ever. It's ALL HIM through & through. And that keeps the glory from ourselves, gives us the much needed precious humbling needed, and gives the FULL GLORY TO GOD.

Just being reminded of all that, helps us to live for Him knowing how much He's done to save us, help us, strengthen us, comfort & encourage, teach & counsel us, love us unconditionally, etc etc. What an awesome God we have! ping: And His combination of justice & mercy is what makes Him so great, so perfect. Why would anyone want to change Him like they do today? There's no greater arms to be in than His.

Hang in there girl. As others have said to you, it's baby steps one day at a time. Satan wants you to think you're a failure and have done too much wrong to be worthy. But none of that is right and don't let him hold you back. Satan will try to hold you back under the weight of guilt, too. He'll do anything possible to get a Christian off track and try to keep them there. He'll use things that are bad, or things that look or sound righteous & holy (but truly aren't). He'll use whatever he can to get any Christian to stay living carnally (pleasing the flesh whether religiously or just physical worldly things) vs. walking in the Spirit as we should.

And remember, Scripture says to not look back at the past. Look FORWARD now to all that He DOES have in store for you on HIS path. Life's trials are there to bring us closer to Him, so let this help you to walk back on the path He's leading you to walk. He'll carry you or walk alongside. He'll always be there for you, because HE LOVES YOU. And so do we. NOTHING is too big or too bad for the Lord to handle. He already knew your whole life and the choices you would make & when, but died for you to pay the FULL PRICE FOREVER FOR ANY SINS YOU WOULD COMMIT IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE. What an amazing, loving Almighty God who is reaching out to you today. Grab on and don't let go.

    (NASB)
Psalm 40 God Sustains His Servant. For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
    1I waited patiently for the LORD;
And He inclined to me and heard my cry.
2He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay,
And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.
    3He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
    Many will see and fear
And will trust in the LORD.

Proverbs 10:25 When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.

Galatians 5:1 Walk by the Spirit
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
