  • please pray for my job interview, May 15

I have yet another job interview today at 2:30, California time. It is with an excellent company, so I am very pleased to have secured an interview, after an extensive background check and testing.

Please pray that I will be able to convince them that I am the one they need to hire. Thank you, dear saints.

The interview went very well, indeed. They will be deciding over the next 7-10 days. Thank you for your prayers.

Praying for you, too. It was just about time for the interview, so I didn't respond, but I was praying.

Follow up with a "Thank You" letter and put your personal business card in the envelop with the letter!

I pray the answer is favorable for you.

Excellent advice Andy. My niece went for an interview and never heard back. She wrote a note saying thank you for the opportunity to interview, etc. and they called her back and offered her the job. Who knows...it could have been down to a couple people and that note "did it". She started her new job yesterday.

Re: Yes, definitely a THANK YOU LETTER!

So glad Andy brought that up. Back in my old job days, with hundreds of people applying for the same job, I was told by bosses that the 'thank you letter' helped a lot to clinch the deal, because it makes someone's name stand out above the rest, even when an interview has already gone well.

Keep it professional & short but sweet. And make sure it's in fast, in case they're having meetings on the top choices already.

Janet, you know I've been praying for you as well. Prayed several times yesterday, so I was excited to come on here today and see this interview went very well.

Re: please pray for my job interview, May 15

As a previous hiring Manager I can assure you that when you have hundreds of resume's to weed through you are LOOKING for reasons to disqualify someone. Then when you're down to the final 5 (that was my "magic number") I'd conduct telephone interviews. Of those I'd typically pull in 3 for in-house, assuming 3 did well on the phone interviews. In the end I would sometimes have a DIFFICULT choice between 2 - or 3 at the most. I can assure you ALL that the person that went the extra mile to prove to me they wanted the job was the one I'd call back in for a second "interview" (typically I made them a verbal offer at that time).

A phone call is NOT "Bugging" that manager. If he/she gave you their business card at the interview - don't be afraid to call... but ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS follow up your first in-house interview with a letter. It's good to have the letter already typed up and ready to mail...you come home from the interview, throw in just a quick paragraph that highlights the best parts of the interview, sign it and get into the mail THAT DAY.

Impress the boss - get the job.

Being the hiring manager is not always so glamours. We tend to put them on some kind of extra-human pedistol - they're just people trying to fill a position with the most qualified (that's not usually very hard to find, depending on the field) then the one with the most initiative and the one he/she believes will best fit for the team. Be FRIENDLY but professional. Wear a smile, make great eye-contact, don't figgit - etc. LOTS of tips are available - if you want more let me know. I've been through several "how to interview" and "how to get that job" training by some of the best in the industry (not bragging, just stating documented facts) and can assist in helping that process.

It was kind of neat taking that training and being on the OTHER side of the table - I knew what I was looking for, believe me.

Out of my two interviews last week, I have gotten one rejection (again, without a reason) and the other one is still pending. This is really rough. Thank you for your prayers and support.
