  • Re: Hezbollah threatens to strike Tel Aviv

He makes comments that he will stop firing if Israel does...and the world grabs hold of it and says...see Israel is continuing this battle. BUT the 48 hour stand down was broken BECAUSE Israel was struck my Hizbullah again. Hezbollah lies and the world believes it.

U.N. boss: Hezbollah deserves U.S. respect

          Global group's deputy secretary-general
          would give terrorists conference-table seat

          Mark Malloch Brown
A top United Nations official says to quiet the "demons" across the "wider Islamic world" the United States and the international community must respect Hezbollah as a political party, not a terrorist organization.

"Everybody would want a solution here which takes away the recruiting power of Hezbollah in the broader Arab world," said Mark Malloch Brown, the U.N.'s deputy secretary general.

That would be one, he said, that "allows Hezbollah a political as against a militia future inside an independent Lebanon."
"The idea that there is a peace which either Hezbollah would respect, or which would draw the wind out of Hezbollah's sails which doesn't address those political things is, I think, far-fetched," he said.

A "settlement" that allows the integration of Hezbollah into the family of recognized interests is needed. It would, he said, have to address the political issues of Hezbollah's cause, "as well as the military one" and would include a disarmament and reintegration plan.

After all, he said, "Hezbollah now is the principle voice of Shia Muslims in Lebanon – something like 40 percent of the population. That gives them immense power as a political party if they were to forsake the military route."
Where did this guy pop up from, all of a sudden??? He's as looney as the Arabs are, especially showing this support for the Hezbollah. He needs to go away!!

The other Nimrod, French FM Blazy today reversed himself....Remember, this is the man who yesterday said Iran was a wonderful country and a stabilizing force in the ME...now Amanutjob is not saying anything different today than he was before....well, other than calling for a ceasefire so they can regroup first before they wipe Israel out...

France's foreign minister condemned Ahmadinehjad's comments Thursday, saying Iran is ruining its chances to play a positive and stabilizing role in the Middle East.

"I totally condemn these words," Philippe Douste-Blazy said on France-Inter radio, saying they were "absolutely unacceptable on anyone's part, especially from a head of state."

The crisis had presented an opportunity for Iran to "show that it can play a positive and stabilizing role in the region," Douste-Blazy said, adding that Ahmadinejad's statement "confirmed that this is not the case."

Mark Malloch Brown is the classic British snob, and has the job of being the number two guy in the UN after Annan - he is a total globalist and basically hates the US - his mouth and insulting remarks of late have caused Bolton to come out and hammer him in public...

(born 1953 in Rhodesia), a British national, is Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. His term of office began on 1 April 2006 and will end on 31 December 2006.

He is a former journalist, development specialist and communications consultant.

On June 6, 2006, while addressing a conference in New York, he criticised the US Government for allowing “too much unchecked UN-bashing and stereotyping”.

He stated that much of the political dialogue in the US about the UN had been abdicated to its most strident critics, such as conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh and the Fox News cable channel and, as a result of this, the true role and value of the UN has become "a mystery in Middle America".

These remarks, not paying deference to America's independent press traditions, resulted in a call by US envoy to the UN John Bolton for an apology from UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Rather than apologizing, Malloch Brown has continued to show an unusual backbone in his blunt public statements. In July during the Israel-Hezbollah crisis in Lebanon, he said America should allow others to share the lead in solving the Lebanon crisis, and also told Britain to adopt a lower profile to end fighting between Israel and Hizbollah guerrillas in Lebanon.

This led to another very sharp U.S. demand for a U.N. apology, but in turn Malloch Brown exercised the tartness for which he is known:

"I don't think the U.S has anything to object to in the comments," he told PBS. "I was really in fact in the interview calling for the U.S. to reach out to France and others to make sure it was demonstrating a broad multilateral coalition and within a single news cycle of my calling for that, it was doing it," he added. ``I may be prophetic but I wasn't critical."

On August 3, he was quoted in the Financial Times implying that Hezbollah should be considered something apart from a terrorist organization. "It’s not helpful to couch this war in the language of international terrorism. Hizbollah employs terrorist tactics, it is an organisation however whose roots historically are completely separate and different from Al Qaeda."

Fox was just showing that King Abdullah said that even if Hezbollah were put down, which he doubts will happen, other "moderate muslims" will just come together and replace them due to "Israel's aggession". He said "as long as there is Israeli aggression, moderate muslim countries such as his will be met with resistance in ever making peace with Israel".
