(IsraelNN.com) Authorities reported on Monday night that Hizbullah claims that an IAF F16 or helicopter gunship were downed over Lebanon in actuality was an IDF missile intercepting an incoming Hizbullah missile. The missile ignited in midair and fell to the ground.

Which got me to thinking....remember Israel's 48 hour warning? With the comments about Rice and Olmerts speach this morning, I am assuming "time is up"?

IMO it will take at least one more major blow / escalation by Hezbollah / Syria and/or Iran before Israel pulls the big trigger...

Perhaps - however IMO it would take a situation where Iran pressures Syria to fire off a number of their scuds at Israeli cities - with one or more containing chemical or bio warheads...IMO that would trigger Israel to nuke Damascus....

Not predicting it will happen - just that IMO, it would take that level of action before Israel would seek to completely destroy Damascus

Yes I believe this maybe the case too Tom...I was also wondering if there maybe chemical warfare used too that would really escalate this situation.

This will have to go to another level before the Israelis go after Damascus.

Watching Fox News and they just now reported that Israel may be softening their demands and close to a cease fire. They are talking about prisoner exchange for the two soldiers. *Sigh* Looks like they are giving in again.

Again IMO this is the usual attempt by the lame-stream media to try and influence conditions to their liking- rather than any major shift in Israel's position...

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert while a "dove" at heart is also a trained professional lawyer and nobodies fool -

....thus when he states = that the fighting in Lebanon would end when two Israeli soldiers were freed, rocket attacks stopped and the Lebanese army deployed along the border he is laying down a set of specific and "measurable" conditions that he knows are highly unlikely to be met any time soon -

.... and thus Israel will be free to continue their efforts to try and completely destroy Hezbollah

Ahmadinejad: Israel trying to conquer Lebanon because of Iran's nuclear program

Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, addressed IDF attacks in Lebanon and said that, because Israel wasn't able to pressure Iran to abandon its nuclear program and, thus, is trying to conquer Lebanon.

I hope that this is true. Each time Israel gives in, it weakens their position. While I don't like war, sometimes you just have to stand up.

One killed in Katyusha strike on house in Nahariya

An Israeli was killed in Nahariya on Tuesday afternoon as Hezbollah guerillas launched a second barrage of Katyusha rockets at towns and cities in the north of the country.

Another person was hurt in a rocket strike on Gush Halav, in the Mount Meron area of the Galillee.

The fresh volleys struck also Safed, Hatzor, Carmiel, Moshe Sde Eleizer and the Haifa Bay region.

Eye witness Eli Dayari told Channel 10 television that the rocket hit a two-story building in Nahariya, and an apartment there was on fire.
