Abbas: Lebanon and PA are on verge of annihilation
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said on Wednesday night that Lebanon and the Palestinian Authority were on the verge of total annihilation, since there was no cease-fire agreement that both Arab countries and Europe supported.
Abbas added that the Palestinians would not accept any accord that did not include an independent Palestinian state whose capital was Jerusalem and a "fair outcome" with regards to Palestinian refugees and Jewish settlements.

Lieutenant Colonel Guy Biton, commander of a Givati Division brigade, told Ynet that IDF forces are continuing to operate in the Sajaiya neighborhood in the Gaza Strip.
"The fighting is very complex. There are terrorists who are shooting anti-tank missiles at us. They tend to come up to a distance of 100 meters in an attempt to strike vehicles. There are no injuries among our forces," he said

It seems to me that these guys are just "cruisin for a bruisin" as we would say in the South. And I hope that Israel gives it to them. There is nothing I would enjoy more than having them shut their big mouths.

Osama al-Mazini, a Hamas political leader, said Rice's visit was designed to help Israel following its "defeat" in the PA territories and Lebanon.
"The Americans are 120 percent biased in favor of Israel," he said. "That's why Rice is coming to save Israel from defeat and humiliation. The US always intervenes when Israel is in trouble."
Let's hope and pray that continues to be the actual case...

Palestinians: 'Day of rage' against Rice visit
By KHALED ABU TOAMEH
Palestinians are calling for a general strike in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip to protest US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's visit to the region scheduled for later this week, accusing Washington of backing Israel's military campaigns against Hamas and Hizbullah.
Leaflets distributed in the West Bank and Gaza by representatives of several Palestinian factions called for a "day of rage" [a euphemism for violent protests] against Rice's visit. The groups also called on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to refrain from meeting with Rice.
"The Americans want a new Middle East devoid of jihad, resistance, liberation, martyrdom, retaliation and dignity. These are all terms that disturb the Americans.
"The Americans' problem is that they have never learned from their past mistakes," he said. "They are continuing to rely on the same corrupt and weak horses in the Middle East." (I will give them that one.

Originally posted by Lay it to HeartYou just can't stop shooting at th police, turn around and expect the police to go home. Gaza needs to turn over their prisoner(s). And guarantee no militant groups will continue rocket fire,
and return Gilad to his family unharmed
and have a neutral group there--Gaza to keep peace since their govt cant do it themselves.
there should be no return of cirminals , govt or otherwise to Hamas as they have proven themselves untrustworthy and unable to manage security.

Re: Israel VS Hamas Part III
Militant groups in the Gaza Strip have agreed to stop firing missiles at Israel at midnight Saturday, senior Palestinian officials said.
The unilateral cease-fire is aimed at ending an Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip that began June 28, three days after militants raided an Israeli army post, killing two soldiers and capturing a third, 19-year-old Cpl. Gilad Shalit, the officials said on condition of anonymity because the agreement was reached at a closed meeting.
More than 100 Palestinians have been killed since then in daily attacks by Israeli warplanes, tanks and artillery, and the militants have fired hundreds of homemade rockets at southern Israel.
The agreement was reached in Gaza City following meetings sponsored by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh aimed at finding a way out of the crisis in Gaza, the officials said. Several Palestinian militant groups attended, including Haniyeh's Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which have been blamed for many of the rocket attacks on southern Israel, the officials said.
The Israeli Defense Forces said it had no immediate comment about the militants' cease-fire.
