  • Re: Hezbollah kidnapped 2 IDF soldiers in clashes on Lebanon border (MERGED)

A quote from a movie with a little change "I don't think that it means what you think it means". It seems that some need to look up and see what freedom exactly means.

      • Re: Hezbollah says Target Will Be Haifa

I found this in the Jerusalem Post. Haifa is a very populated city on the Coast. Since the bombing of the Beirut Airport, I guess we need to look for this type of thing next:

Hizbullah warned Israel Thursday afternoon that if the IDF attacked southern Beirut, where the organization's leadership is based, they would target Haifa

(IsraelNN.com) Today, Thursday, is the 17th of Tammuz Fast Day, marking the beginning of the period known as the Three Weeks, which precedes the 9 Av Fast Day, more commonly known as Tisha B’Av.

Chief Ashkenazic Rabbi Yona Metzger announced earlier today that northern residents are not compelled to fast if they are suffering from anxiety and other symptoms as a result of the rocket attacks.

The fast on the 17th of Tammuz commemorates the siege on Jerusalem, which preceded the destruction of the Holy Temples on Tisha B’Av.

Iran, Syria support people's resistance to occupation of region

Iran's visiting Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani in a meeting with Syria's Foreign Minister Walid Muaallem today supported "the resistance of regional people to foreign troops occupying the region."

At the meeting, Larijani and Muaallem stated that continuation of resistance in Palestine and confrontation of Iran and Syria to foreign pressures have been fruitful, adding that resistance is the only option leading to success and victory.

Muaallem said that the outcome of Tehran meeting on Iraq was successful and called for the cooperation and support of Iraq's neighbors for the country.

"At the meeting in Tehran, I noticed Iran's strong resistance to foreign pressures and that there is no possibility of air raid on the country," he added.

Larijani in a meeting with Syria's President Bashar al-Assad today briefed him on the latest developments in Iran's nuclear issue and the outcome of his talks with European officials.

World leaders urge restraint after deadly Middle East flare-up 1 hour, 35 minutes ago

PARIS (AFP) - World powers have pleaded for restraint to stop the fiercest Israeli-Lebanese clashes in a decade slipping into all-out war.

US President George W. Bush blamed "terrorists who want to stop the advance of peace", while fellow UN Security Council members Russia and France condemned Israel's "disproportionate" use of force.

"Hezbollah doesn't want there to be peace, the militant arm of Hamas doesn't want there to be peace, and those of us who do want peace will continue to work together to encourage peace," Bush said.

Israeli war planes carried out at least 50 raids across Lebanon on Thursday, including on Beirut airport, a day after the killing of eight Israeli soldiers and the capture of two by Hezbollah guerrillas.

Bush, speaking on a visit to Germany, also urged Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad to help pressure Hezbollah to release the Israeli soldiers, adding: "Syria needs to be held to account."

                http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060713...n_060713122720

The G-8 meeting could be very tense, if President Bush sticks his guns.

Katyusha missiles slammed into the holy city of Tzfat Thursday afternoon, striking a college, mortally injuring one and wounding close to 20. Hizbullah: If Beirut is hit, Haifa will be next.
Seven 122mm Katyusha rockets struck Tzfat (Safed) around 3 PM Wednesday. One landed near a bus stop, one near an absorption center and the others in populated areas as well. At least 20 people are being treated for wounds. A 70-year-old woman was critically wounded, and another person remains in serious condition. The rest suffered light injuries from shrapnel and shock.

With every rocket falling on Israel this will increase the tension.
