Syrian officials: Golan Heights offensive possible

Enraged by Israeli aerial flight over presidential palace last week, Syrian officials threaten future provocations will not go unanswered; warn of cells willing to carry out 'liberation war' against Israel

Syrian border heating up? Days after Israeli aircraft carried out an aerial flight over the palace of President Bashar Assad, Syrian officials began hinting that the country may open a new front in the Golan Heights if it is attacked by Israel

According to reports, the Israeli flyover deeply embarrassed the Syrians, and officials are now seriously contemplating military action against Israel.

"If Israel carries out further stupidities inside Syria, the Golan front will not remain as it is.

I used Google Earth to look at the Damascus airport. I notice earth covered hangars or bunkers. This is not good in the mist of a city. The airport is somewhat west of the central part of the city. If Israel strikes the military base in Syria any WMD's stored there are going to be a problem. If you use Google Earth (free for personal use) put in the coordinates 33 28'15.36"N 36 12'48.7E.

If you piece together these various reports it would appear that the Pally terrorists managed to blow up a house killing a mother and two small children so that it could be blamed on the IDF..?

PA Blames Israel for Shajaiyeh Fatalities
          22:53 Jul 08, '06 / 12 Tammuz 5766

(IsraelNN.com) Palestinian Authority (PA) officials are blaming Israel for the Saturday night attack on a home in the Shajaiyeh area of Gaza in which three civilians were killed, a 6-year-old girl, her older brother and their mother.

PA officials first reported that an IDF artillery shell struck the home but IDF officials stated there was no artillery fire in that area.

Military officials did report however that an air force strike against armed Hamas gunmen in that area did take place earlier in the night, at 20:08. PA officials are now stating with certainty that the family members were killed by that fire, aimed at the armed gunmen.

IAF: explosion in Gaza City not result of aerial attack

Pursuant to an Israel Air Force investigation following the death of three Palestinian civilians in their home in Gaza City, it was found that, while aerial forces did identify and shoot at five armed suspects in northern Gaza, this attack was not related to the explosion in Gaza City.

One of the current conjectures is that the explosion resulted from Palestinian terrorist activity in the area. (Hanan Greenberg)

Perhaps it was a job site or work related accident. Can they collect Worker's Compensation Insurance?

Kassam Rocket Slams into Sderot Home
                  06:54 Jul 09, '06 / 13 Tammuz 5766

(IsraelNN.com) A Kassam rocket slammed into a Sderot home early Sunday morning on Carmeli Street. A number of people were injured in the attack which occurred a short time ago, with at least one reported in moderate condition.

As more civilians are injured by these millisles, the pressure will continue
on the Israeli P.M. to take decisive action to take out the Kassam
Missile sites once and for all. That could mean striking the supply line
in southern Lebanon or in Syria.

UN Council rejects Qatar's anti-Israel proposal as one-sided

By Shlomo Shamir, Haaretz Correspondent and Reuters

NEW YORK - A draft resolution circulated among Security Council members by Qatar, on behalf of the United Nation's Arab group, was rejected out of hand as "absolutely unacceptable," because it was unbalanced and one-sided regarding the events in the Gaza Strip.

Arab states asked the Security Council to demand Israel's immediate withdrawal from Gaza, but France and the United States, veto-wielding permanent members, criticized their proposed resolution as unbalanced.

Qatar's draft resolution condemned Israel's detention of dozens of Palestinian officials. However, it fails to mention the rocket attacks on Israel and the capture of Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit.

                        06:30 Jul 09, '06 / 13 Tammuz 5766

(IsraelNN.com) US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has canceled a planned visit to Israel which was to have taken place next week.

Unofficial reports indicate he canceled the visit due to the situation surrounding captive IDF soldier Corporal Gilad Shalit and the rising tensions in the area.

Israel launches strikes after rebuffing ceasefire
                          Sun Jul 9, 2006 2:18am ET

GAZA (Reuters) - Israel launched air strikes against Palestinian targets across the Gaza Strip on Sunday after rebuffing a proposed ceasefire by Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas.

Israel is threatening to expand its offensive unless militants release Corporal Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier abducted in a cross-border raid on June 25, and halt rocket fire on Israeli cities.

"The operation will go on until someone on the other side sobers up," Justice Minister Haim Ramon told Israel Radio.

At least three militants were injured in an early morning air strike near the Karni commercial crossing between Gaza and Israel, Palestinian medics and police said.

Israel also bombed a key bridge in northern Gaza, despite an appeal from the United Nations to stop targeting the strip's fragile infrastructure.

The army said the goal was to prevent militants from transporting rockets to launch sites.

Knesset Member Wasal Taha, corresponding publicly with internet surfers on the Arabic-language IslamOnline site, said he repeatedly advised PA terrorists to battle and kidnap Israeli soldiers.

MK Zevulun Orlev (National Religious Party), who last week submitted a bill to negate Knesset membership to MKs who support terrorists, said that Taha's "traitorous" remarks are further proof that Israeli democracy must protect itself.

I relize that Taha is a member of one of the arab parties in the Knesset,
but how can they allow him to continue to serve, he should be arrested
for treason. I don't think even our most liberal leaders would endorse
this in the U.S., at least not yet.

Poll: Majority of Palestinians back kidnappings, Qassam fire

                              By Avi Issacharoff, Haaretz Correspondent

A sizable majority of Palestinians support the continued kidnappings of Israelis as well as persistent Qassam rocket fire as a means to pressure Israel to release Palestinian prisoners, according to a new poll commissioned by the Jerusalem Media and Communication Center, the results of which were released Sunday.

Of the 1,197 respondents from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, 66.8 percent expressed support for further kidnappings of Israeli civilians while 77.2 percent backed the Kerem Shalom tunnel operation and subsequent kidnapping of Israel Defense Forces Corporal Gilad Shalit.

Nonetheless, just 47.7 percent of those polled said they believed the Shalit affair would end positively for the Palestinian side.

Probably about the same number that voted Hamas into power over them.

After all, terrorism works...look at how they got Gaza and S. Lebanon in the first place.
