Anan & Assad Discussed Hostage Soldier (note the spelling)
        02:22 Jul 04, '06 / 8 Tammuz 5766

(IsraelNN.com) United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Anan on Monday spoke with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad regarding IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, who is believed held by terrorists in southern Gaza.

According to the official Syrian news agency, the two spoke of tensions between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA), as well as ways to lessen the hardships endured by residents of Gaza.

Defense Minister Amir Peretz on Monday released a statement blaming al-Assad, calling upon him to “open his eyes,” adding that he is indeed responsible for the plight of the captive soldier.

IAF warplanes attacked a terror cell in the northern Gaza Strip late Wednesday, according to reports.

The attack apparently targeted a Hamas cell that was attempting to plant explosive devices in the area.

Report: IDF strikes car with Al-Jezeera reporters
An Israeli tank shell hit a car carrying reporters from the Al-Jazeera Arabic satellite TV channel on Wednesday night in the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahiya, Palestinian witnesses said. They said there were apparently some injuries, and ambulances were on the way to the scene.

The military had no immediate comment. However, the military spokesman said IAF aircraft attacked a cell of Hamas terrorists, in what appeared to be a separate incident.

Israel has been massing troops across from northern Gaza, and some moved across the border in what appeared to be the start of an operation to create a buffer zone there to move Israeli cities out of Palestinian rocket range.

                  Developing story:

Israel Live Radio is now reporting a truck was stolen from and Israeli and their child was still in the vehicle when the thiefs took off with it. The ins. co. tracked the truck by a GPS locating device on the vehicle, and it is located in a PA Refugee camp.

Alert Raised at Northern Israeli Border
                      14:22 Jul 05, '06 / 9 Tammuz 5766

(IsraelNN.com) The alert level along the northern border with Syria has been raised, said IDF officials, who added that Syrian military forces went on high alert on Tuesday.

IDF sources said there was a concern that Syrian President Bassar Assad would launch a military response to last week’s IAF flyover of his summer palace.

The Israeli F-16’s buzzed the palace in an attempt to pressure Assad..... It is believed that his captors are following the orders of Hamas terrorist chief Khaled Mashaal whose base of operations is in Damascus.

(IsraelNN.com) Speaking to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Wednesday night, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called on Israel to avoid using too much force in ongoing efforts to free hostage soldier Corporal Gilad Shalit.

While he did not specify what actions will be taken, Lavrov stated his country will be working towards obtaining the solder’s release.

Draft resolution demands Israel quit Gaza
                            AP - 1 hour, 29 minutes ago
UNITED NATIONS - Acting on behalf of Arab nations, Qatar circulated a draft U.N. Security Council resolution Thursday demanding Israel end its offensive in the Gaza Strip and release the Palestinian officials it has arrested. The draft faced immediate opposition from the United States and France, which called it unbalanced in its criticism of Israel.

                            http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060706/...NlYwMlJVRPUCUl

I know the U.S. will veto this measure, but it shows how most of the
world sees the Arab/Israeli conflict. They see it as "open season"
                            on Israelis.

Yes, it certainly shows the pro-pally bias in the UN, not to mention where all the other Arab nations will come down on this if push comes to shove. And we all know that eventually, according to prophecy, it will come to shove.
