Al-Arabiya: Khaled Mashaal left Syria 3 days ago

The al-Arabiya TV news network said that a senior Syrian source confirmed that Hamas politburo head Khaled Mashaal and other senior Hamas members have left Syria.

According to the report, the senior source in Syria reported that Mashaal left the country three days ago. The station cited Hamas sources denying the report, however. (Ali Waked)

Either that - or it's a trick to try and take the heat of of Syria, and preclude a strike by Israel.

Hamas spokesman in Strip: Report on Mashaal probably not true

Hamas' spokesman in the Gaza Strip, Mushir al-Masri, responded in a conversation with Ynet to the report that Hamas' politburo chief Khales Mashaal left Damascus following a demand made by Syrian President Bashar Assad that his organization releases the kidnapped IDF soldier.

Al-Masri said that he was not familiar with the incident and cannot address it. He added, however, that he believed the information was not true. (Ali Waked)

Report it and then deny it....?

They said they have their goal to take all the land from the Jordan to the Mediterranean, and that they would NOT stop until that goal is accomplished. That's all of present day Israel left. God-given ISRAEL is actually a VERY LARGE area of land going up into present day Iraq, Syria, etc.

Anyway, I tend to think their enemies' primitive unguided rockets are more a deflection to what is building up behind-the-scenes, and also in Syria and Egypt as well. As they said Israel is soon in for a big SURPRISE. And IMHO, Israel KNOWING about the buildup and the Arab nation plans of using their Arab people in Israel to run Israel down from within to help accomplish it, is why they're doing what they're doing right now also. IMHO, I think Israel is doing what they're doing because of this much bigger reason right now. They've been getting some computers and files, etc. and must be getting some good intel w/that. They're very smart about this stuff and have prevented TONS of attacks, including what they explained would've been 'mega-attacks'.

Israel 'usually' knows when there's a new pattern playing out. Only God is all-knowing, but for earthly intelligence, I believe Israel is one of the very tops. While I don't trust their dovish leadership, I do know GOD is in control and said He makes leaders rise and fall and will use them all for HIS greater purposes. So, HIS plans laid out in the Bible will happen, and from the buildup going on and all the interesting 'meetings' of Arab nations w/each other and other 'enemy' nations, as well as Russia even, you can see the whole picture coming together right now. Intriguing days for sure.
AMEN! I agree and couldn't have said it better.

The Syrian goverment may be recognize that having Humas in the nation
paints a giant bullseye on it. I am not confident that Humas has left
Syria, but if they have I am not sure that will take the heat of them.

A second rocket has been fired from Gaza into Ashkelon...while the reporter is telling the story, gun fire is heard in the background "from celebrations during a wedding that is going on". This is a developing story on CNN.

Some of them expressed rage against the government's limp-wristed approach for dealing with the Qassams.

Large IDF force prepared to capture deep swath of northern Gaza

By Yuval Azoulay and Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondents

A large contingent of Israel Defense Forces infantry and armor units prepared to move into the ruins of the former settlements of Nissanit, Dugit and Elei Sinai in northern Gaza on Wednesday. The forces are set to enter the area shortly.

The military force was placed on alert after Palestinian Qassam rockets began striking Ashkelon. Since Tuesday evening, three Qassams have slammed into the southern coastal city.

Unlike other areas of the Gaza Strip where the IDF has been operating this past week, this force is preparing for a relatively extended stay that more than symbolic. They intend to capture a broad swath of territory several kilometers into Palestinian Authority territory in an effort to hinder Qassam rocket launch cells now setting their sights on the coastal city of Ashkelon.

A permanent military presence in the northern end of the Gaza Strip will distance the Qassam fire from Ashkelon and - with massive air support - is liable to make rocket attacks from the northern village of Beit Hanun much more difficult

Tom, that was the exact same article I was about to post. Glad ya beat me to it. Noticed it's THREE rockets now that have hit Ashkelon. Not good.

The military force was placed on alert after Palestinian Qassam rockets began striking Ashkelon. Since Tuesday evening, three Qassams have slammed into the southern coastal city.

8 people were lightly wounded Wednesday evening when Palestinians in Gaza fired two Qassam rockets at the southern coastal city of Ashkelon on Wednesday evening. One of the rockets slammed into a southern neighborhood and the second landed in the Zikim area. 8 people suffered from shock, including two 7yr. old children, and were treated by Magen David Adom paramedics.

Report: Shalit's kidnappers might relax demands
                            By JPOST.COM STAFF

Officials in the defense and security establishments have yet to respond to a report released Wednesday evening that the kidnappers of IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit would consider relaxing their demands.

On Monday, Shalit's captors issued an ultimatum threatening unspecified consequences if Israel failed to release all minors and women currently imprisoned for security reasons. The government refused to negotiate, calling the kidnappers' demands "extortion."
