Thus the $64,000 question is what will Israel do towards Syria and the Hamas leadership in Damascus if and when the young IDF soldier turns up dead..?

What's this Damascus thingy? I thought all roads led to Rome. Wow, we knew that Syria would show up in the end, but I think there may not be any surprises when it happens. (Well except the rapture, but that just goes without saying.)

Most wanted Hamas man goes on TV

Mohammed Deif, the Hamas operative who has been number one on Israel's most-wanted list for a decade, appeared on TV early Monday in a documentary prepared by the Al-Jazeera satellite network.

Deif has been targeted several times in Israeli assassination attempts and has been reported seriously wounded, but the man identified as Deif by the TV network showed no effects of wounds. He kept his face hidden during the interview and as he was filmed walking next to the reporter.

He was dressed in khaki pants and a checked shirt, a red and white keffiyeh Arab-style headdresscovering his face. It was a rare appearance for Deif, who is usually underground avoiding the Israelis, who accuse him of responsibility for many suicide bombing attacks in Israel over the past decade.

Deif, known as a master bombmaker, called for the Arab world to push for an Israeli pullout from the West Bank. "It's our duty and role, not only us in Palestine, but every Muslim in the world has a religious duty and role to fight to liberate this land, because it's Islamic territory," he said.

Israel blasts Palestinian PM's office to pressure Hamas

          Published Monday, July 3, 2006

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip -- Israeli aircraft sent missiles tearing through the office of Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh on Sunday in an unmistakable message to his ruling Hamas group to free an Israeli soldier.
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told his Cabinet that the military had been ordered to "do all it can" to return the captured 19-year-old corporal, and cautioned that arrests of senior Hamas officials could spread to Gaza, the Islamic militant group's power base, a government official close to the prime minister said.

Defense Minister Amir Peretz told the Cabinet meeting that Israel would go after "higher-caliber targets" in the future -- a reference to senior Hamas officials inside and outside the Palestinian territories, a high-ranking political official said.

"We will strike and will continue to strike at (Hamas') institutions," said Bar-On, an Olmert ally. "They have to understand that we will not continue to let them run amok."

PA television airs clip encouraging children to become shaheeds

This week, Palestinian television reprised, after a three-year absence, a clip featuring Palestinian child Mohammed a-Dura, calling to other children to join him in a shaheed heaven for children.

The dramatic heart-wrenching footage of a-Dura, shot dead in crossfire in a clash between Israeli and Palestinian forces in the Gaza Strip in the beginning of the intifada in September 2000, was broadcast around the world.

"Palestinian Media Watch" reported on the television clip on Saturday, and announced, "The Palestinian Authority is once again airing video clips designed to influence the behavior of young children and to make them seek deaths as shaheeds."

In the clip, a child portraying a-Dura is peacefully playing in heaven, and calls to other children, "follow me." The popular singer Aida performs the song in the clip, which describes how the earth longs for the deaths of children, saying, "How pleasant is the smell of the earth whose thirst is quenched by blood pouring out of young bodies."

Another clip that aired this week after a long absence depicts a young girl witnessing her mother's murder and then singing about how she misses her mother. She sings, "If you can't come to me, I can come to you."

              Soldier's captors give Israel ultimatum = 6am July 4th

By IBRAHIM BARZAK, Associated Press Writer
              58 minutes ago

Three Palestinian militant groups that captured an Israeli soldier issued a statement Monday giving Israel less than 24 hours to start releasing 1,500 Palestinian prisoners or "bear all the consequences."

The ultimatum came as Israel made good on its promise to continue its military offensive until the soldier was freed, firing artillery shells and missiles into the coastal strip and massing troops and tanks along the Gaza-Israel border.

The militant groups, in a statement posted on the Web site of the ruling Hamas party's military wing, did not expressly say what the consequences would be, but implied the soldier could be killed. Israeli government spokesman Asaf Shariv said officials were studying the statement.

"We give the Zionist enemy until 6:00 tomorrow morning, Tuesday, July 4," the groups said in their statement, which was also faxed to news agencies...

"If the enemy does not respond to our humanitarian demands mentioned in previous leaflets on the conditions for dealing with the case of the missing soldier ... we will consider the soldier's case to be closed," it said. "And then the enemy must bear all the consequences of the future results.".

EU chief 'very concerned' about Mideast violence, urges restraint

EU Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso says he is very concerned about the escalating violence in the Middle East after the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier.

Israel has ruled out any question of negotiating with the abductors of Gilad Shalit, 19, or releasing prisoners in exchange for his release.

It sent troops and tanks into northern Gaza Monday and carried out a sixth night of air raids after warning it would use all its power to free the soldier captured by Palestinian militants eight days ago.

"We are very concerned and call on both sides to show restraint and put an end to the violence," Barroso told journalists on the sidelines of an official visit to Finland which took over the EU presidency on Saturday.

Barroso said the EU's executive Commission was ready to make a contribution to ending the conflict but added that "nobody can settle the issue but the Israelis and Palestinians".

"Violence is violence, whoever started it, whatever the reasons," said Finnish President Tarja Halonen.

Translation = to the EU quislings all "violence" is the same, and that is one of the key reasons as to why the war of Euarabia will be won by the islamofacists without a shot fired in self-defense...

I don't see either side backing down. I think Hamastan wants to kill the soldier and they want war. They wish to portray themselves as the victims and encourage their kids to be sewerside bombers.

Whoever backs down and drops their demands will be seen as a paper tiger or coward. If Israel backs down more kidnapping will occur. In my opinion, there is only a small chance that tomorrow will not be a day of war. Israel IS holding Syria responsible. By the way, I have not heard Mr. Assad come out a call for the kidnappers to release their victim. Bashar can say he had nothing to do with it but he DOES protect the bad guy leader and won't stop him.

So I wonder what will happen at 6am? That will be 12:00am EST. Good thing tomorrow is July 4th, I can stay up late since I don't have to work.

We are approaching a critical time extremely fast, whether that threshold is tomorrow or not. This is some kind of vortex!!

The kidnappers are giving Israel a 11 PM deadline to start releasing
the prisoners they and demanded be released, or they say the fate
of the kidnapped soldier will be determined. It looks like we are looking
                          at two deadlines to watch.

Ramon: If Shalit hurt, Gaza raids will be far worse
                            www.haaretz.com

Justice Minister Haim Ramon on Monday warned of a harsh military response in the Gaza Strip if an abducted Israeli is harmed by his Palestinian captors.

Justice Minister Haim Ramon made the threat after the militants holding Israel Defense Forces Corporal Gilad Shalit implied the soldier would be killed if Israel does not begin releasing Palestinian soldiers by Tuesday morning.

"If God forbid, they should hurt the soldier, our operations will be far far worse," Ramon told Channel 2 TV.

The bureau of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Monday that Israel rejected an ultimatum issued earlier in the day by Palestinian militants holding an Israel Defense Forces soldier, saying that Israel would not give in to blackmail.

I do belive the destruction of Damascus is not necessarialy part of the Gog Magog war. It could happen years sooner terrifying the Arabs into makeing the peace that will fool Israel into liveing "safely" before the Gog Magog war of Ezekiel 38/39. In a perfect world israel needs to drive out all the arabs in the neighborhood....... If they dont eventually GOD will.

as someone said the arabs are eithor at your feet or at your throat....I'd rather the former.....
