HSB, so what do you think we should do, as a people in a land that may feel the wrath of God?

Pray for your country's leaders, pray that the Christian community will wake up in time. Make sure your own life is in order and pure before God. I have no idea how to prepare for disaster, physically or economically. perhaps others with expertise could chime in on this one, even if you don't agree with the basic scenario..how does one prepare for potentially chaotic times ahead.

First, I reserve the right to reply specifically to the numerous posts above.

Secondly, concerning ". . .how does one prepare for potentially chaotic times ahead, " I'll put together an answer, perhaps tonite. Yes, the hidey-hole does mean that I have spent many years studying this general issue.

Right now I'm going to listen to A. Sharon in an interview on TV.

          HSB...
Wow... what a scenario you paint about the Father in the Station Wagon, with the back end protruding out over a precipice... Well hang onto your hat... I was that boy ... my brothers & sister were in that Station Wagon. It happened overlooking the Long Sault Rapids before the Seaway flooded the whole area. Yes indeed, if my Dad had not gotten out and checked... Our Family might not have survived the drop into the fast-moving St. Lawrence River. We are here today, because he listened... then obeyed!

Keep "banging" on that hood... The World [Christian World] needs to understand... The big Question is... Can the Church hear?... or are they so hooked into "Purpose", "Vision", and "Bigness"... that they are BLIND to His Word! I believe that the "Church" [the one that the World sees], has so little of His Word hidden in their hearts... that they do not recognize His Voice, nor could they 'test' the Spirits to know from whence these current directions are coming from... After all... Deceit requires a large amount of 'Truth' mixed into it to make it sound believable... His Word cuts through to the irregularities, and shows one what does not measure up... It is far too easy to see a little bit of truth and conclude that all is truth... It is prudent to 'test' the Spirits.

Check out the Net.... Look for... Y2K - Preparedness Planning

Everything that was identified for Y2K-Survival Preparation is applicable... EVERYTHING!

All that Planning effort is now required... "If" this event is to happen... If we are the Land-of-Gog... Fire & Brimstone... is catastrophic!!!

I have for a long time, gone with the flow of the secular world and not really contemplated my actions too much. Now looking at the happenings of today I see that I need to get my house in order. My faith is strong within me, but I am finding it hard to find what I need in an organized religious establishment. As Don the Baptist has mentioned, the church the world sees is very shallow. I am truly afraid of the coming times, and will start to take steps to ensure my family and friends remain safe. I struggle with the logical side of the world and the faith side of my belief. Trying not to judge, but holding true to my values. It is a tough road, and all signs point to it becoming even tougher in the times ahead.
The End of Days has always been something that intrigued and mystified us for thousands of years. Yesterday a new series on NBC aired called “Revelations”. Even HOLLYWOOD realizes the value of this amazing story. It is scary to see the secular world cash in on this and make people so desensitized to hearing the words, and themes that when the signs start to show themselves (like what might be happening right now) people are oblivious.
I am nervous about the coming hardships, and will be looking into Y2K planning as Don the Baptist has suggested. I will continue to post and read and participate in this thread, hoping to further discussion. I am open to what is being shared here, but also skeptical. So maybe that skepticism will help along the discussion even more.

              Snoopy,

Following is a brief list of links that will get you started in your consideration of "preparedness." My posting them is not an endorsement of any of their content. Some are clearly commercial in nature.

Issachar, I believe, previously mentioned that he keeps a "bug out bag" - I would encourage you to think about the utility of such.

I heard an interesting opinion on coast to coast last night that may shed some light on why Sharon and Bush are doing what they are doing.......
it was stated that with Russian and Pakistani help Iran has neculear weapons
have allready tested them and have smuggled some of them into america and israel. also that the russians smuggled many nukes into america years ago, and the hideing places (locations)have been sold to terrorists. and the iranians have hired technicians from russia, pakistan who are now here in america to keep them operable. maybe that is true, maybe not........

but regardless if the nuke story is true it was said that we have come very close to major terror incidents here and its only a matter of time before we have one----- which would result in martial law amoung other unpleasant things. url linked to coasttocoastam.com

IDF Predicts: War After Gaza Pullout
                          17:09 Apr 17, '05 / 8 Nisan 5765

The Palestinian terror onslaught offensive is expected to resume in September, prompting the IDF's re-capture of cities in Judea and Samaria in the fall, and a re-entry to Gaza by early next year.

The IDF has given the code-name "Rainy Day" to the period following the disengagement/expulsion, which is scheduled to begin July 20 and end sometime in August. This name was chosen "not only because of the autumn winds soon to blow," writes military correspondent Haggai Huberman in HaTzofeh, "but also because of the military scenario foreseen by the army. "The army is calling it a 'security escalation' - in other words, a renewal of war with the Palestinians."

The violence is expected to reach such levels, Huberman writes, that "the IDF will be forced to re-take the cities of Judea and Samaria" that were recently given over to the security control of the Palestinian Authority. Jericho and Tul Karem were recently given over, but the handover of Kalkilye to the PA has been held up because the PA refuses to collect the weapons of wanted terrorists.

"The mind-boggling thing," Huberman continues, "is that the State of Israel is advancing, knowingly and with its eyes open, towards this death trap. The Yom Kippur War of October 1973 was a surprise, but the war of October 2005 is totally known in advance. Senior IDF officers say it in closed sessions in the clearest manner possible to everyone, including the media. The Prime Minister and the Defense Minister, pushing with all their might for the uprooting [of the Jews in Gaza and northern Shomron], also know it. This scenario is shown on slides that the senior officers show the diplomatic echelons, the government, the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, and all others who have to know."

Haaretz defense affairs expert Amir Oren agrees. "In and around the IDF," Oren writes today, "the assessments are mixed as to how well the security forces will overcome the [Jewish] opponents of the evacuation... But there is no disagreement about what can be expected after the summer: The prediction is that by next January to March, after Palestinian terror has increased and become more sophisticated, the IDF will return to Gaza - this time without the police."

HaTzofeh's Huberman adds that even if a diplomatic agreement appears to be in the making, terrorism will still be renewed - but on a "more moderate" level. "These, then, are the two only post-expulsion possibilities the IDF is preparing for," he writes: "If there is an agreement, there will be terrorism, and if there is no agreement, there will be an escalation, i.e., war."

Arms-smuggling from Egypt into Gaza, and from there to Judea and Samaria, or along the Egypt-Negev-Judea route, continues to increase. Standardized powerful dynamite, which has not been seen in Judea and Samaria since Operation Defensive Shield almost three years ago, is among the materials the terrorists are trying to smuggle in. IDF officials consider this the main threat against Israel today, as it will mean roadside bombs along major highways in the Israeli heartland.

In the 15 weeks of the year 2005 , the army reports that 1,000 rifles have been smuggled from Sinai into Gaza and the Negev. Dozens of RPG mortar launchers, 150 pistols and tens of thousands of bullets have found their way into Israel since the beginning of the year. Some 600 rifles were smuggled in over the past month alone. It is suspected as well that five anti-aircraft shoulder missiles were smuggled in via one of the tunnels into Gaza.

Israel's Exit from Gaza: Does It Fit the Bush Doctrine . . . or Just European Demands?
                            Dear Friend of FLAME:

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has led Israel's right wing for so long that it's hard to imagine he would in any way sacrifice Israel's vital interests . . . and get nothing in return. Just as hard to fathom, given the Bush Administration's tacit (and active) support for virtually all of Sharon's initiatives to date, would be for Sharon to contradict the so-called Bush Doctrine, which calls for Arabs to disavow terrorism and embrace democracy as a condition for American favor. Most surprising of all would be for Bush to acquiesce quietly if Sharon were to take steps at odds with Bush's carefully drawn vision for the region. Yet, according to insightful Mideast commentator Carolyn Glick, that's exactly what Sharon's Gaza withdrawal plan amounts to---a complete compromise of Israel's self-interest, a disavowal of the Bush Doctrine and an embrace of the tainted desires of European nations. I think you'll find Glick's detailed exposition of this bizarre situation well worth your time. The true facts of the matter may turn your support for Sharon's plan---as it has mine and, as it appears, that of many Israelis---into a great, frowning question mark, if not outright opposition. This is frankly not the shortest piece we've run in the FLAME Hotline, but it's certainly one of the most articulate, timely and useful. I think you'll find Glick's analysis edifying, eye-opening . . . and ultimately satisfying.

                            Best regards,

                            Jim Sinkinson
                            Director, FLAME

P.S. As we noted last week, FLAME has just begun publishing a new hasbarah---a clarifying public relations message---on the question of "A Homeland for the Palestinians: Why they? How about all those others?" If you haven't seen it yet, I think you'll find this article useful in deconstructing the mythology surrounding the "need" or "right" of the Palestinian "people" (not really a historic people, but an indistinct group of Arabs) to a new homeland (in addition to all the other homelands already created in the last century for Arabs). I hope you'll take a look at this message, print it out, and pass it along to others. Simply go to http://factsandlogic.org/ad_91.html. Sharon and the Bush Doctrine
by Caroline Glick, Jerusalem Post, March 27, 2005

Last June, during a NATO summit in Istanbul, US President George W. Bush blamed the dictatorial rulers of the Arab world and their supporters for the culture of extremism that engenders terrorism and hatred of the West.

Bush said, "In the last 60 years, many in the West have added to this [state of affairs] by excusing tyranny in the region, hoping to purchase stability at the price of liberty. But it did not serve the people of the Middle East to betray their hope of freedom and it has not made Western nations more secure to ignore the cycle of dictatorship and extremism."

The fact that, in the midst of a reelection campaign in which he was being pilloried for alienating Europe and Turkey by invading Iraq, Bush stood in front of his erstwhile NATO allies and essentially told them they were advancing the cause of terror, speaks volumes for the president's seriousness in pursuing his strategy of victory through the democratization of the Arab world.

The European reactions to Bush's speech were highly suggestive. French President Jacques Chirac sent his new foreign minister, Michel Barnier, to pay his first visit to PLO chieftain Yasser Arafat and spend the night in his Ramallah compound. British Prime Minister Tony Blair stood next to Bush at a news conference and conflated Bush's Greater Middle East Initiative of spreading democracy regionally with establishing a Palestinian state.

The question of how Palestinian statehood fits into the Bush Doctrine of democratization has always been a nagging one. The president's central premise is that the endemic wars and terrorism in the region are the consequence of repressive regimes that prefer their people be raised on a diet of extremism and hatred under tyrannical governments than be educated in moderation and modernity under free governments. Rejection of Israel's right to exist by the Arabs who need Israel (and America) as their external enemy in order to justify the failure of their own leaders to advance their peoples is, by the reasoning of the Bush Doctrine, the central cause of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

On the other hand, the idea that there must be a "two-state solution" in which a Palestinian state – empty of Jews at its inception – is created in Judea, Samaria, Gaza and Jerusalem comes in response to a completely different set of operating assumptions. These assumptions are not American, but European. According to them, the cause of wars and Arab terrorism is not Arab tyranny and religious extremism but a lack of Palestinian sovereignty. The Arab conflict with Israel, according to this view, will be resolved when a "viable and contiguous Palestinian state" is founded in a Jew-free Judea, Samaria, Gaza and Jerusalem.

Today the Bush Administration, together with the Sharon-Peres government, is pushing the view that Sharon's withdrawal and expulsion plan for Gaza and northern Samaria is aligned with the Bush Doctrine. Among the Palestinians and the Israelis, however, it is becoming increasingly clear with each passing day that not only is there no connection between the two, but that there is a glaring contradiction.

This week, MK Azmi Bishara's Web site, www.Arabs1948.com, published an interview with Hamas spokesman Ahmed al-Bahar in which he discussed the significance of Sharon's plan. Bahar claimed, "The painful and qualitative blows which the Palestinian resistance dealt to the Jews and their soldiers over the past four and a half years led to the decision to withdraw from the Gaza Strip."

"All indications show that since its establishment, Israel has never been in such a state of retreat and weakness as it is today, following more than four years of the intifada," he continued. "Hamas's heroic attacks exposed the weakness and volatility of the impotent Zionist security establishment. The withdrawal marks the end of the Zionist dream and is a sign of the moral and psychological decline of the Jewish state. We believe that the resistance is the only way to pressure the Jews."

There can be no clearer exposition of the Palestinian view that Israel's plan to hand over strategic assets to its enemy in the midst of war and receive nothing in return is a victory for terror than Bahar's statement.

From the political developments of the past couple of weeks inside of Israel it is clear that the overwhelming majority of Israelis also view Sharon's plan as a victory for terrorism. So it is that without exception, the entire left wing of the political spectrum, with the support of the anti-Zionist Arab MKs and the post-Zionist Yahad faction, supports Sharon's plan.

And almost without exception, every member of the right wing of the Israeli political spectrum – which does not include Sharon loyalists like Ehud Olmert and Tzipi Livni – either opposes Sharon's plan or demands that a national referendum on the plan be held before any withdrawal of forces or expulsion of Israeli citizens is carried out in Gaza and northern Samaria.

It took a while for the significance of Sharon's plan to become clarified for Israelis. As recently as last month, many voices on the Left were still questioning whether Sharon had something up his sleeve that they didn't know about. Yet as time passed, and Sharon became increasingly shrill in his defense of his policies – while demonizing and firing anyone who voiced opposition to or doubt about the wisdom of his plans – its significance sunk in for everyone. As a result, today it is well nigh impossible to find an Israeli or a Palestinian who will argue that Sharon's withdrawal plan can in any way be linked to, or made to agree with, the Bush Doctrine.

Given the total disconnect between the Bush Doctrine, which places the onus for change on the Arabs by calling for their democratization and eschewal of terrorism, and the Sharon plan, which makes no demands whatsoever on the Palestinians, it was interesting to see an attempt to conflate the two undertaken by as remarkable an intellectual and as heroic a figure as Norman Podhoretz.

In the April issue of Commentary magazine, Podhoretz, who has been a towering intellectual model for me throughout my career, argues that there is a way to view the Sharon plan as part of the Bush Doctrine. He claims that after Israel removes the Jewish communities from Gaza and northern Samaria, the Palestinians will be held to the Bush Doctrine's policy of democratization – and that Israel won't be forced to make any additional concessions until the Palestinians reform. He argues that if the Palestinians continue to attack Israel after the IDF evacuates the Jewish communities and withdraws from the areas, Israel will be free to take any action it deems necessary to secure itself. He claims that because of Bush's commitment to the Bush Doctrine, the Arab world will now be forced to enact reforms that will transform the Palestinians' operating environment in a manner that will force them to give up terror.

                            continued...

While it is possible to debate the merits of each of the points he made in favor of the plan, what is most interesting about Podhoretz's analysis of Sharon's plan is the point he does not address. Podhoretz never discusses what Israel is actually accomplishing – for itself – by going forward with Sharon's withdrawal and expulsion plan. Again, as is now clear to all Israelis and Palestinians, the reason it is impossible to discuss what Israel is actually gaining from Sharon's plan is because Israel is gaining nothing from it.

MK Uzi Landau, who leads Sharon's opposition in Likud, flew to the US last week to speak to American Jewish audiences. He spoke mainly to local groups, as he explains that the main Jewish organizations – the United Jewish Communities and AIPAC – have refused to allow any opponents of Sharon's plan to address their audiences. This, he says, is the result of pressure on the groups by Sharon's office.

"What I found every time that I spoke," Landau relates, "is that the American Jews had absolutely no knowledge of the problems with Sharon's plan. No one has ever discussed them. No one has ever been afforded the opportunity to discuss what will happen the day after Israeli forces pull out of Gaza. No one has ever been able to talk to them about the financial and security and political costs of the plan. No one has ever been allowed to discuss with them the ecological consequences of the plan."

Given the fact that in Israel it took time before the significance of Sharon's plan was fully understood, it makes sense that in the US it could take a bit longer for the strategic logic – or irrationality – of Sharon's plan to become clear.

When the Rabin-Peres government announced the Oslo process 12 years ago, giving the PLO land, legitimacy and arms in exchange for intangible promises of peace, American supporters of Israel – both Jewish and non-Jewish – were quick to declare either their support for or opposition to Oslo. The vast majority supported it. Once they had publicly declared their support for the policy, even when it literally began blowing up in Israel's face, they refused to countenance that they were wrong to have done so.

The fact that the current policy of expulsion and retreat is being enacted by Sharon – the great general and right-wing tactician – is a source of confusion for many who are looking for a catch that will explain and justify his adoption of a radical, left-wing plan.

Hopefully, once the supporters of Israel – who, like Podhoretz, were brave enough to ignore the conformist pressures and oppose Oslo – come to accept the fact that Sharon's policy involves many risks but provides no opportunities, they will not hesitate to disavow it. And again, hopefully, at that point they will demand that the US policy toward the Palestinians be brought into line with the Bush Doctrine.

Even non believing Jews are starting to see a connection between "natural disasters" and the judgment of God. Wait until the "BIG ONE" flattens Israels's oponents right in the Land itself!! below article from ArutzSheva:

                                Islam Getting Slammed From Above?
                                by Beth Goodtree
                                Apr 19, '05 / 10 Nisan 5765

Being fairly non-religious, I believe on alternate days in an actively participating G-d and on the others, I believe in a G-d who merely created everything and then took off on a permanent vacation. But I do know enough to recognize a pattern when I see one. And I am seeing a pattern of natural disasters that seemed deliberately aimed at some of the main population centers of Islam.

There is a very good website, which I check out twice daily, that lists all earthquakes around the world. It even gives a map for those of us who can't tell latitude from attitude and longitude from long underwear. It's run by the US Geological Survey and can be found at http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/bulletin. There are also several good sites that provide daily updates of natural disasters, including earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes and the like. I check those out on a daily basis, too. I've been doing it since I became computer literate, in 2000.

Way back then, I noticed a distribution pattern in the earthquakes. They'd be fairly evenly scattered across the globe, with only occasional concentrations in one area, and then immediately going back to an even distribution across the globe. But recently, I noticed a change in this pattern.

Now, it is said that God does his work on Earth through nature. For example, it is quite possible that the column of smoke by day and fire by night that the escaping Israelites saw after their Exodus was, in fact, the plume from a volcano. This same volcano may also have been responsible for the plagues brought upon the Egyptians due to their slavery of the Jews.

We know from recent volcanoes that a huge eruption can cause darkness over the lands for many hundreds of miles. One of the plagues was the plague of darkness. Also, the rivers turned to blood and the fish died. This too could have been caused by an extreme volcanic eruption. Some volcanoes contain iron oxide, which is red. A massive eruption could have caused the fallout of iron oxide in the rivers of Egypt, killing off the fish.

Regarding the plague of boils, hundreds of people ended up in hospital emergency rooms with skin sores and rashes after the Mount Saint Helens eruption due to exposure to the acidic fallout ash. This same fallout caused livestock to perish or to be destroyed due illness from prolonged inhalation of the volcanic dust.

Of course, the fiery hailstorm to plague Egypt as described in Exodus is a common occurrence when a huge volcano blows. When Mount Saint Helens erupted in 1980, it caused a cloud of pellet-sized volcanic debris to fall like hail. Burning pumice from the sky set fires on the ground, destroying trees and houses. Lightning flashed all over the area, created by the enormous turbulence inside the volcanic cloud. For days, volcanic debris fell like hailstones, flattening crops for miles around.

This coincides with what is written in the Bible about what happened to Egypt.

Exodus 9:23-4: "So there was hail, and fire flashing up amidst the hail, very grievous, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 4. And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and broke every tree of the field."

In fact, most of the plagues can be attributed to a super eruption. And it just so happens that there was a super eruption at the time of the Exodus. It was on the Greek island of Thera, which is now called Santorini.

Santorini is a bay over six miles across that is actually a crater formed by the eruption of Thera. Evidence suggests that sometime around 1500 BCE, a gigantic volcanic eruption all but destroyed the island of Thera. Judging by the size of the crater - over thirty square miles - the Thera eruption has been estimated to have been over twenty times bigger than the Mount St. Helens eruption.

In addition, pumice samples taken from the seafloor show that the wind at the time was blowing towards Egypt. And Egypt is less than 500 miles away - certainly close enough to be severely affected by such a huge eruption.

If something looks like a snake, slithers like a snake, hisses like a snake and downs mice whole like a snake, I'm gonna jump on a table and start screaming, because I know it's a viper. The same goes for acts of God wrought through nature. On the days that I believe God is just a tourist somewhere, having created the world and left it to its own devices, I remember the Exodus and Thera. It cannot be a coincidence. And I realize that maybe, at the very least, He phones home once in a while, to right wrongs and do the various things a deity is wont to do.

Which brings us back to Islam. Over the past few years, the Muslim world has been ramping up its rhetoric and lies, hatred and acts of violence against Jews in general and Israel in particular. Mein Kampf and The Protocols of the Elders of Zion have become best sellers in the Middle East and the Muslim parts of Asia. Muslims have been accusing Jews of doing everything from using Arab babies to make matzoh to stealing their babies to harvest their eyes and other organs.

And of course, the Muslim world is calling for the destruction of Israel and targeting Jews in utterly bestial acts of genocidal murder, often keeping body parts, dipping their hands in Jewish blood and dancing in wild, joyous abandon.

Unfortunately for the Arabs, although they'd like to convince the world differently, the Muslim headquarters, population-wise, is not in Arabia but Asia. Specifically Indonesia, which has the most Muslims in the world in a single country. And Indonesia has been under constant onslaught by nature, perhaps initiated by the Almighty, for months.

Even before the tsunami of December 26, 2004, I had noticed an increase of earthquakes in that area. And since the tsunami, the frequency of the earthquakes has been increasing dramatically. On top of that, many of their volcanoes have awakened. And if you look on the USGS map of earthquakes, you will see Indonesia being ringed with tremors. So, too, are some of the nearby countries, but only in certain areas. If you look at a map and a chart of demographics of these countries, you will see that the areas affected are predominantly Muslim. Makes ya' think....

Indonesia and these other areas affected by recent earthquakes and volcanoes have been quite antagonistic towards Israel and Jews. Indonesia, for example, is the training headquarters for several Islamist terror groups. It has also been so hateful of Jews that when Israel offered aid after the tsunami, the offer was at first rejected out of hand, then grudgingly accepted, with the admonition that no Jews would be allowed to go to Indonesia to help - they'd only take Jewish money and goods. However, a few days ago, the Indonesians apparently had recovered enough, partly from Jewish aid flowing in to them, to stage an anti-Israel rally with an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 people.

For Jews, 'tis the season of miracles. We recently had the miracle of survival celebrated by Purim and we're coming up on Passover, the miracle of our escape from bondage by the Egyptians. Could we be seeing another miracle in the making?

History has shown that any country or government or regime that does not accept the Jewish people will fall. The Romans, the church of the Inquisitors, Stalin's Russia, Hitler, the USSR - all have fallen after they began demonizing the Jews. And the tiny population of Jews survived it all and even thrived, despite our enemies' best efforts to exterminate us, with overwhelming money, odds and military might.

I read recently that the tectonic plate that Indonesia is on has fractured. Could this be the final warning to them to mend their ways regarding Jews and Israel? And could this most recent anti-Israel rally be the straw that will sink their precious country beneath the waves? And if Indonesia goes under the ocean, will all the other Muslims who live to hate Israel and Jews take warning? Or will they say it was a Zionist plot, thereby sealing their own fates?
