  • Now my local Lake OTAY dam has crested about to spill over.....

Now I just got a report that my local OTAY dam has crested about to spill over..... and the needed maintainance was neglected since we're in a drought, dont you know !!!!!!! our mountains got so much rain this winter that the water in the mountain resevours was let out down to Otay ... and we cant flush often enough to drain it quickly enough ... to avoid a serious spillover......
    More rain coming Friday

    ???Time to go fishing???

The dam/lake hasnt been this full since 1916 when San Diego hired a rainmaker that created so much rain!!! ??? that the last dam broke !!!!!

Yes its kinda upriver from me.... If the dam were to break the now raised railroad tressle/ embankment would slow down the torrent for a few minutes, --untill it was washed away--
but the next hour would be really interesting here... I may have to try out my new water wings...
I do have a boogie board and life jacket in my shed

Yes the entire city council ((12 to 1))voted that nothing will happen.... maybe they should read up on the English / Norse king Canute
    !!! ....

if thats IF the dam were to go I'm about 20 miles down stream right where the dry river bed goes out into the bay... yes, my trailer park is off to the side of the flood zone plain 3 feet above the dry marsh where the flood would come through... thankfully maybe 50 years ago the railroad build a railway embankment and highway embankments across the dry river bed except for a 70 foot section that drains normal runoff out to the bay...
so maybe the railway & highway embankments might hold if a flood came through...

google earth "387 Hollister St, San Diego, CA" looking under the railroad trestle East up the valley to the dam

the present google earth view of the Lower Otay Dam ((look at it !!!)) has the water cresting the dam at spillway level and the emergency spillway is as incompitantly built as the other dams spillway was !!!!!!!

The lake is 100 feet deep at the dam !!!
