  • Christians, Jews protest New Zealand sponsorship of UN resolution on Israel

Prior to the demonstration, the Flaxmere Christian Fellowship Church Hastings and 11,685 supporters signed a petition to parliament entitled “For the Protection of Zion.”

The petition called on New Zealand’s government to cease pressuring Israel to give up its “rightful and God-given land and to recognize Israel’s right to sovereignty over the entire Land of Israel.”

          Election time in Germany

In strong attack on Israel, German foreign minister says settlements jeopardize peace

Steinmeier, a Social Democratic politician who is jockeying to be the next president of Germany, later said on Twitter: “Israeli settlements in occupied territories jeopardize possibility of peace process.”
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, a staunch proponent of the Iran nuclear deal, has slammed Israel in a series of tweets and statements since last Friday’s Security Council resolution condemning Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria.
The statement prompted the editor-in-chief of Bild’s digital outlet, veteran journalist Julian Reichelt, to express astonishment at the harsh wording.
Steinmeier also endorsed US Secretary of State John Kerry’s Wednesday speech, writing that the “speech is a warning and a reminder that the #2StateSolution must not become an empty phrase. #MiddleEast.”

          Merkel however...

In response to Reichelt’s criticism, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokesman Steffan Seibert wrote on his Twitter feed: “Israel is a Jewish democratic state.”

Mind you she isn't anywhere near this position yet, but the idea is floating out there. And that is definitely something to take note

With the two-state solution a distant dream, Palestinians ask if it's time to push for a one state solution

But these days, as Palestinians see prospects for the so-called two-state solution disintegrating, a growing number are mulling over a provocative alternative: a single binational state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean.

This has also been bounced around among the Jews in Israel.

Moderate Arab states anxious to make good impression on Trump
                  Interesting statement
"This suggests the Saudis understand there won't be significant movement any time soon as a result of the speech," he said. "They recognize there is a new administration coming in that is expressing itself differently on Middle East issues. Saudi strategic priorities are elsewhere. There are more acute issues occupying their thinking. The Palestinian-Israeli issue is lower down. That doesn't mean they don't care and would go along with anything the Israeli government would do."
"At this point, the Saudis won't take the lead on Palestinian-Israeli diplomacy unless the Trump administration takes the initiative or something forces them to, like a new intifada." But Riyadh will try to persuade the US not to move its Israel embassy to Jerusalem, Maddy-Weitzman predicted.

Re: Christians, Jews protest New Zealand sponsorship of UN resolution on Israel

Netanyahu said to warn of more anti-Israel UN activity

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly expressed fears Sunday that the United Nations Security Council could take fresh action against Israel during a meeting on January 17, three days before US President Barack Obama is slated to leave office.
Netanyahu told his weekly cabinet meeting that Israel is “in the midst of an event that has still not ended,” according to a report by Israel’s Channel 10 news.
White House Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes said last week that the US would veto any further UN action against Israel, after Washington abstained last month and allowed a resolution critical of West Bank settlement building to pass, drawing fury in Jerusalem at the US and the Security Council’s other 14 nations.
The Security Council meeting is scheduled to take place just two days after a planned peace conference in Paris on January 15, which Israel says may be used to advance further measures against it after the UN Security Council resolution and US Secretary of State John Kerry’s speech last week in which he condemned Israel’s “pernicious policy of settlement construction that is making peace impossible” and laid out his six principles for peace talks.
Although it was not specified what kind of additional action Netanyahu believes will be taken against Israel at the Security Council, Channel 10 reported last week that the prime minister thinks the Middle East Quartet — the US, UN, Russia and EU — will coordinate positions at the Paris summit, and then return to the Security Council in the very last days of Obama’s presidency to cement these new parameters on Mideast peacemaking.

A drone owned by the European Union crashed on Mt Hebron Monday. It was found equipped with a video camera containing footage documenting Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, including IDF bases and facilities.

This part isn't surprising as the conference is coming up...

                      And adding to Netanyahu's concern.

SHEEESSHHH ...!! I've been away for a very brief time, was able to get back on and saw this thread. What a changing world! What a fast, changing world ...

I doubt we'll ever know the cause of the drone crash (maybe directly, God?), but I'm glad it did and they found what they found. My first thought was, "Why do they store footage onboard instead of simply streaming it to a remote recorder?" But then I thought, these days, someone would probably be able to hack it. So they store it onboard and retrieve when landed. Guess they didn't count on it crashing.

The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken - dylan

Psalms 122:8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

lol Amazing just how quickly things are changing and could change.

Netanyahu: ‘Very important’ to thwart another UN resolution
Israel is making a “great diplomatic effort” to prevent further Security Council or Quartet resolutions, Netanyahu said, instructing the Israeli ambassadors to make that the main focus of their work in the days ahead.
“It won’t take much time, but it will occupy us in the next two weeks, and it needs to succeed,” he said. “This is of utmost importance, immediately.”
