  • Sorry for the personal request....

    Would appreciate some prayers, all.
Patti and I are about to start some significant ministry "adventures" as we are just now finally finding/joining a church that I'm fully comfortable with.
    Satan is attacking...
Finances is the current attack as my car has now been the focus. Just had to drop a chunk of $$ for a starter and tires now I just got told another almost $800 is needed to handle some coolant leaks. My answer to that is, "Keep a gallon of water in it at all times, keeping the overflow tank filled!"

Main thing, just asking for prayer coverage in all areas of our lives as I know Satan has his crosshairs on us right now.

Covering you and Patti, Andy. Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother and sister, Andy and Patti to you for Your protection from Satan and his plots and schemes that would interfere with their hopes and desires to serve you in new ways. Please keep them both safe and healthy; give them the finances they need to take care of these needs and please bless them by keeping their vehicles safe and dependable. We ask this in the name of Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Too bad We're not geographically closer bro .. we could knock both of those out on Saturday for a couple hundred bucks ..

The coolant leak? Did you check around the two radiator hoses and two heater hoses? Most of the time the leak is at the edge of the fitting that the hose pushes onto. If so, undo clamp, cut hose at fitting, cut off part of hose remaining on fitting, push hose with leak cut off onto fitting and install clamp. Heater core? Radiator itself? Harder, but grab a brother from church to hang out with and replace.

      Praying too ..

The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

Psalms 122:8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

        Thank you, Sue!

Issachar - the coolant is leaking out of both the water pump and the timing chain cover. There is no mystery where it's coming from. It's the timing chain cover that shows 7 hours of labor for this engine - thus the very hefty price-tag for labor.

          ugh!
Once upon a time in "car good ol' days" the water pump and timing belt ("chain" is unfortunately now wishful thinking) cover had nothing to do with each other. But now, "they're better" made. Not.

          Oh well ..

I drive old cars so I can service them.

The car situation is already settled. I take it back to the repair shop on Wed evening, they take 2 days to work on it and let me pay half now and the other half in 1 month. Thankfully I've been working with this center for over a decade and have built a relationship with the owners that they're willing to trust me with that.

Just hope and PRAY nothing else goes wrong in either vehicle! That pretty much wipes out our 'car fund'!

This is a 1999 and it does indeed have a chain.

It only has 146k miles and this is really the first I've had any real trouble with it. I say, "real trouble" because I had this exact job done 50k/5 years ago. I'm very surprised to see both the pump and the seal go out this quick...very rare. My beloved's vehicle is a foreign-job and has over 120k miles ... ZERO trouble with any of this. We've replaced the belt on it simply to keep from having any issues but - nothing has happened to that car. Consumer Reports gave it an excellent grade back when we got it, which was why I picked it. HIGH safety rating, very good maintenance record, etc.

you MUST replace Both the water pump AND the timing ""chain""...otherwise you'll be pulling it apart again before you know it !!!

Thanks, Lewis, the chain is fine at this point given the number of miles on it since it was replaced.
And it is a chain on this car, not a belt.

Oh Andy, I'm so sorry. Car issues can be exhausting - mainly because I know nothing about cars. I am thankful you know and have a relationship with a good place.
I am praying for a raining of blessings on you and Patti and for protection that nothing else comes up.

Thanks, sister. I'm going to go ahead and drive it to/from work tomorrow and prob Wed but am very uneasy about it. It's leaking pretty bad and I hope/pray it does not strand me halfway between one or the other. By the time I had returned the call to the shop they had taken on a large, engine rebuild job so my job could not be started until Thurs. I REALLY wish I had asked them about the half/half when I talked to them the first time but - it's okay.

We do indeed need to be remembering in prayer those in the pathway of hurricane Matthew and in a special way, Plumbob. For those that may not know, he was a faithful servant and incredible blessing to me for many years. His health isn't the best so please do remember he and his wife in prayer.

Just got this note from Sam:

On our way down. In South Dakota now. Boat safe in her slip at home.

Our place is on the Gulf coast. 60 miles south of Tampa. So no hurricane winds this time ;-)

Thx for thinking about us, Bro.
