  • US officials visit Sussiya, warn pending demolition "troubling"

A diplomatic source told The Jerusalem Post that both the United States and the European Union have spoken privately with Israeli officials about the matter.

“We hope the Israelis won’t move ahead,” the source said, adding that to do so “would be to go against the whole international community,” elicit “a lot of angry reactions,” and would be the “crossing of a red line” because it would be “the first major displacement of a big group of people.”

"The United States warned Israel against the pending demolition of Sussiya after officials on Wednesday visited the Palestinian herding village in the West Bank’s South Hebron Hills.

“If the Israeli government proceeds with demolitions it would be very troubling,” State Department Press Office director Elizabeth Trudeau told reporters in Washington on Wednesday."

Doesn't our State Department have enough to do here at home? Where do they come off interfering in Israel's business?

      Hi Sue

I frequently don't bother posting the articles about the State dept complaints, but this one is different. First, it isn't just the State dept

But I also couldn't help but think how poorly this one could play out in the media, even in America.

Hi SAT. Thanks for your faithful posting of these stories. Yes, with Israel, much is ignored in the press, and any one of these incidents could rapidly escalate to a situation where prophecy could be fulfilled and we might not even be aware!

Yep and it seems that as Israel is getting more and more comfortable in the world....
'Never before, since 1948, has the world been so open to Israel'

“As much as we’re facing challenges, this is a period of unprecedented opportunity, and I’m speaking as a historian,” he said. “Never before, since 1948, has the world been so open to us.”

She maybe feeling more and more able to push the edge a little farther.

“the first major displacement of a big group of people."
Although the world, including the Moslem world, is coming to accept the existence of an Israel, it is a divided Israel.

EU wants halt to Palestinian demolitions; Liberman delays Sussiya opinion

The European Union on Monday called on Israel to halt the demolitions of Palestinian structures, as Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman delayed by two days the publication of his opinion on the pending demolition of the Arab village of Sussiya.

“The Israeli authorities must halt demolitions of Palestinian houses and property, in accordance with its obligations as an occupying power under international humanitarian law, and to cease the policy of settlement construction and expansion, of designating land for exclusive Israeli use and of denying Palestinian development,” the European Union said in a statement it issued to the media.

And every year the UN builds dozens of villages for migrant Arabs / mosloms across the ""West Bank""

Yep and Sussiya is one of the bigger EU/UN supported villages. Which is why it is something Israel is walking carefully around. As it stands right now it is becoming more and more a challenge to the EU/US/UN then the Palestinians themselves.
