  • Abbas demands Temple Mount status quo be restored to 1999

    http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Co...to-1999-432075

The problem? The Vatican, Europe and the US have other ideas for the Temple Mount that do not agree with Abbas. Oddly, their view would be closer to Israel's position. Which is why 1999 happened.

    Abbas demands ...
That is such a sign of the times, me thinks. "Demands" .. everywhere, "demands." Most of the time, "demands" are equal to selfishness. Everywhere we turn today there are people demanding this and demanding that .. demand, demand, demand. It's like a bunch of spoiled kids in adult bodies. "I demand this!" Whether it's world leaders, world leader wannabe's, refugees, recipients of many sorts ... demand, demand, demand ...

Sorry SAT .. a bit off there but it's tiresome to see everywhere, someone or some people .. demanding.

    Issachar
The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

Abbas still isn't getting the message being sent by the Quartet.

Kerry meets with Abbas, urges calm, decrease in violence

The talks included discussions of tensions at a Jerusalem holy site - known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary, where al-Aqsa mosque stands, and to Jews as the Temple Mount.

Palestinian allegations that Israel is trying to alter the religious status quo at the site have helped fuel months of heightened violence.
      http://www.reuters.com/article/us-is...Name=worldNews

Israel has had permission since 1999 to allow all three on the Mount. Which coincides with the beliefs of the elite.

He is eliminating any chance they would ever consider the Palestinians as even the FM of the EU has made it clear about their vision for the Mount.

"Jerusalem is not just a beautiful city, the challenge is to show that Jerusalem can be shared in peace and respect," said Mogherini.

"The message is not for the people who live here, the message is to the rest of the world," she said. "It is not a Palestinian-Israeli situation, it is a global issue."

And of course the position of the Vatican.

      PS

At least so far it seems, both Israel and the Palestinians are being left out of the decision making process in the latest talks.

Grand Mufti urges Muslims to defy 'Israel violations,' visit al-Aksa
Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, the grand mufti of Jerusalem, has called on Muslims all over the world, especially those living in Jerusalem and Arab Israelis, to make pilgrimage to al-Aksa in order to defend the mosque from Israel's attempts to Judaize it.
Last week, Israel imposed new restrictions on Palestinian access to al-Aksa, scotching permits for Gazans to visit the mosque. On Monday, Israeli authorities announced that all Palestinian men under the age of 50 are banned from entering the compound during the Purim holiday.

On Wednesday morning, Palestinian media reported on “dozens of settlers breaking into al-Aksa accompanied by massive police forces to celebrate the Purim holiday.”

Jordanian FM to Abbas: Cameras to be installed on Temple in coming days

Judeh was dispatched to Ramallah in a bid to avoid a crisis between the Jordanians and the Palestinians once the cameras are installed.

During the meeting, Judeh said that his country was committed to preserving the "status quo" at the Haram Al-Sharif, or the Noble Sanctuary - the Islamic term used to refer to the Temple Mount compound.
        http://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/Jor...cameras-449091

Some Palestinians have expressed reservations about the installation of the cameras, claiming that they could be used by Israel to identify and arrest Palestinians who protest against visits by Jews to the Temple Mount.

In the past week, Palestinian activists in Jerusalem threatened to destroy the cameras under the pretext that they would serve Israel's security interests only.

UNESCO World Heritage Committee to vote on Jerusalem resolution

The UN cultural body’s World Heritage Committee is set to vote on a controversial draft resolution challenging Jewish historical ties to the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount and calling of a return to the “historic status quo” on the holy site.
After the fallout, UNESCO chief Irina Bokova called for “respect and dialogue” with regards to the holy site.

“Jerusalem is a Holy Land of the three monotheistic religions, a place of dialogue for all Jewish, Christian and Muslim people. Nothing should be undertaken to alter its integrity and authenticity,” Bokova said in a statement.

Contentious UNESCO resolution on Jerusalem shelved

The vote was postponed minutes before the proceedings began when the Palestinian and Jordanian delegations, which had proposed the resolution, could not secure enough votes to ensure its passage. It is unclear if and when they will propose the resolution again.

                Little side note???
From the article in post 7

Five other counties will, based on previous voting patterns, likely vote against Israel: the Philippines, Jamaica, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
                From an older thread...
But Moscow wants to pull in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan as well and to transform it into an EU-type "Eurasian Union" in the coming years.

Things do change, and I suspect this is why the Palestinians couldn't get enough votes.

                From the main African media..

Africa: Israel's Bold Foray Into East Africa Was Surprisingly Well Received

Benjamin Netanyahu's tour of East Africa came at a time Israel's position in the Middle East is militarily and strategically unassailable. In the past two decades or so, she has seen her main Arab foes simply crumble, a process the Arab Spring only helped to accelerate.

Netanyahu was also able to connect with other leaders in countries he wasn't visiting in Africa who at one time would have rejected Israel.

But in this thread this is the most telling about the owo/ owr beliefs....

Israel and European allies working to stop UNESCO from ignoring Jewish ties to Temple Mount

Israel has enlisted the help of three European countries — the United Kingdom, France and Germany — to sway UNESCO against passing a resolution that ignores Jewish ties to the Temple Mount.
