Seismic Uptick Continues: A mag 6.3 quake - 52km W of Illapel, Chile is the 18th major quake of September and the 13th major quake to rock Chile in four days

A mag 6.3 quake - 52km W of Illapel, Chile, is the 13th major quake or aftershock in the area in the last four days
After a very quiet time recently for seismic activity, August was the quietest month for major quakes since March 2014 with only two..... suddenly September could be the busiest month for major quakes in years, well it is a special month with the final blood moon arriving later in the month!
Today's quake were the 18th major quake this month and the 106th of this year....
This month needs another 9 major quakes, with 10 days to go to beat the April 2014 total of 26, also a blood moon month which is the highest total in the last three years, see graph below....

Yet another major quake.....a mag 6.5 - 46km WSW of Illapel, Chile is the second major quake to strike in the same place today.
Earlier a mag 6.3 struck in the same area.
It is the 14th major quake or aftershock to strike the area in the last four days

Yes, Sue, most of the large earthquakes have been in Chile, this month! Some may be aftershocks from the 8.3 that occurred?

That would seem likely, that they are aftershocks but still big enough as earthquakes and able to do considerable damage on their own. Haven't heard too much about death tolls or damage, though.

The quake was originally registered as a mag 6.9 but has now been downgraded
It is the 16th major quake to hit the planet in the last seven days which is something of a record recently.
Today's quake is the 21st major quake this month and the 109th of this year.... This month needs another 6 major quakes, with 6 days to go to beat the April 2014 total of 26, which coincidentally was also a blood moon month and was the highest total in the last three years, see graph below...

Deviating a little from earthquake activity but this shows other affects.

High ‘supermoon tides’ strike coasts

Sunday’s supermoon, combined with an 18.6-year lunar cycle, caused high tides on both sides of the Atlantic this week. There were many flood warnings and alerts in effect in the UK on Tuesday night. In eastern North America, Tropical Storm Joaquin might combine with high tides to cause flooding.
