Hey All,
I don't know if anyone caught it this morning, but they had the authors (Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins) on Good Morning America.
Overall it was a pretty good segment. Though it drives me crazy when people interview Christians and try to corner them in a tolerance issue. As if we hate other people.
I have to give it to (I think it was) Jerry Jenkins who said (and I'm totally paraphrasing because I'm having trouble remembering) it isn't about excluding, it's about what the Bible tells us.
OK, I've decided to rewind the DVR and write out her question and the answer that stood out to me from JJ.
ROBIN GMA: (explaining what rapture is and goes into the following) ...that those who don't believe are going to be left behind... so what do you say to those who are devout in their faith?
TIM L: You mean devout in the Christian faith?
ROBIN GMA: Devout in ... Jewish people who are devout, other people who are devout, who you are saying that God looks at as being inferior...
(Tim gave a witness as to what the Bible says salvation is.)
JJ: "We realize that in a pluralistic society and in an age of tolerance that this can be offensive message and a divisive message and we don't say it to offend. We read this and we believe... and we have friends that are divided by the faiths... and rather than being condesending or spiteful or hateful or... or... you know moving to things that people of, fundamentalists of other religions have become terrorists you won't see evangelicals becoming terrorists because the whole point is, because people have the right to choose they have free will and if they decide to disagree we still love them and care about them, we just worry because what we read is what we want them to know and what they do is up to them..."
OK, there are probably a few 'you knows' etc, that are off, but that's pretty much it. Please don't pay attention to my splling
because I'm sure it's a mess. That's harder to do than I thought. LOL
I have to say (from what I've seen) GMA reporters don't seem to be as harsh on Christians, so at least she dropped it after that. But I was really thrilled to see the whole topic shut down by bringing up, HELLO! We aren't killing people because they don't believe!
I'm sure there are a few things here that people would have liked to see said differently, but the main point got across and when you're put on the spot like that, it can be difficult to think quickly...
In His care,
Tammy
