Thanks Andy. I've been keeping up on this. I can't believe that I finally get to be in the totality zone. I want to see Jupiter, etc. in the middle of the day!
I do have ISO certified viewing glasses for this. I may look briefly but as in 2017 (?) when we had something like 60-70 percent coverage of the sun, I will mostly be using the pinhole camera idea though that he describes. I put my "screen" (white paper) at a 45 degree angle so I could look in a viewing hole in the side of the box and the sunlight came through the end of the box. That way I couldn't accidentally block anything. It worked very good.
I have a LOT of kids I will be with. Mostly grandkids. I will be explaining to them ahead of time that what they are seeing is the result of design; that the solar system and indeed, the whole universe, is one, very giant clock/calendar. Every birthday card for quite a few years now, I include saying "congratulations [name] on completing X laps around that greater light that rules the day! (Genesis 1:14-19)" I switch up the wording some each time. So ya, with 26 grandchildren now and a first great grandchild due .. well, 4 days agoand other grandkids married, my wife and I are up to 44 family birthdays a year now. We marvel at that because it seems to her and I that being married 52 years ago, it doesn't seem that long ago. Hey, the antediluvian patriarchs would say, "It's a start, I guess."
Genesis 1:
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
Psalms 19:
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shews his handywork.
IssacharThe church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.
Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.
I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken - dylan
Psalms 122:8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
