  • How close are we to Ez 38?

Time and time again I hear well-meaning teachers try to tie in what's going on in the M.E. as evidence of an imminent Ez 38 war and it always grieves me. I see these folks trying real hard to make scripture fit events instead of letting scripture stand alone in its pure form then watching how events will perfectly fulfill these passages. Rarely, do I find someone that recognizes that the 11th verse is so critical to understanding that this famous passage cannot be an outflow of massive war...rather, it can only happen when Israel thinks they are enjoying unprecedented peace.

Then today this video hits and I was HOOKED. Brothers Tom and James really present a point of view on this that really resonated with my spirit. Hope y'all enjoy it, too.

Very interesting. Yes, it's so easy to try to pinhole world events into prophecy; I recall hearing of how some people during WW2 were waiting for Hitler to march south to Jerusalem, ignoring the fact that for the first 3.5 years, the Antichrist will appear to be a great friend to the Jews.

That tendency is why I've recommended very few teachers - mostly just Jan Markell and Amir Tsarfati for their great take on current events - to the inner city ministry kids. Even ones like Pastor JD, I can tell he says certain thigns because he's like a little kid at Christmas who is just *hoping* he'll wake up and the calendar, which has been on December for *weeks*, will suddenly say it's Christmas. Just from the way he preaches, you know he has that eagerness. But, not everyone is even that clear about how they're just hoping this is it - and I know it's easy for the mostly unchurched youth to be fooled.

Sadly, Doug, Amir has been one that I have vehemently disagreed with on this topic. He's human and makes mistakes, but repeatedly (in the past) he tried to say that "if you ask any Israeli on the street, they feel super secure and at peace" and also tried to say walls had been taken down (in certain areas). I was quite surprised at his take and felt like he was doing what we said: Twist scripture and TRY to make it fit what he was seeing. I often thought to myself, "Go down to S. Israel and ask that same question where Hamas was terrorizing them on an almost daily basis with incendiary balloons and rockets". Anyway, he's not saying that anymore as the entire nation is ON EDGE and TERRIFIED.

I know, he seems very balanced on everything else and I always took what he said as being from his point of view of being in the IDF. I could just imagine how, with an EMP or something, the Russians and others could very easily render Israel's self-sufficiency moot and make them call upon the Lord in the same way that Hezekiah did when they were surrounded by the Assyrians. It just seemed a little easier for me to figure that others could understand that point of view. After all we have felt it for years in the United states, and I have been very guilty of it myself.

and yes, he and all of Israel have definitely awakened to the fact that they are all incredibly vulnerable.

Interesting. Saudi Arabia seems to be a very significant player in all of this. I wonder if they will be the one to initiate a peace treaty. It would have to be extremely significant for the terrorist nations to sign on.
