  • Aftermath of Jerusalem deadly car attack by Palestinian

The focus on the Temple Mount just isn't going away.

Police and onlookers crowd the chaotic scene after a Palestinian man rammed a minivan into a train platform in east Jerusalem and then attacked people with an iron bar after leaving the vehicle

Netanyahu points finger at Abbas for Jerusalem terror attack

At Rabin memorial ceremony, prime minister says peace won’t be possible until Palestinians stop embracing terrorists
    http://www.timesofisrael.com/netanya...terror-attack/

The world leaders can keep trying to avoid the subject by pointing to construction or just not saying anything like they did in the last Security Council meeting Jordan called, but the Islamic world is pushing the presence of non Muslims(but reality is Jews) on the Mount

I have to wonder how all this will affect Kerry trying to reopen peace talks and of course the elections in the US yesterday.

Palestinians riot across capital after deadly attack

Following a deadly terrorist attack Wednesday afternoon, Palestinians rioted in Jerusalem’s Old City and outside its Damascus Gate, burning garbage and throwing stones, hours after an East Jerusalem man rammed his car into a group of pedestrians in a terror attack, killing one man.

In the Old City, two Palestinians sprayed police officers with tear gas near one of the gates to the Temple Mount and fled into the Temple Mount compound. No injuries were reported by one suspect was arrested.

Police also arrested a Waqf guard on suspicion of threatening police, Israel Radio reported

Jordan recalls ambassador from Tel Aviv in protest over Temple Mount

Meanwhile, the Palestinian leadership plans to turn to the UN Security Council following renewed rioting at the Temple Mount Wednesday, a spokesman for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said.

“We warned that this is a red line that we cannot keep quiet on,” Nabil Abu Rudeineh said, according to Israel Radio, adding that Israel was trying to escalate the situation at the holy site with the aim of isolating the al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Temple Mount has been a source of friction between Israel and the Palestinians in recent months, with Palestinians frequently clashing with police in protests against Jewish visitors to the compound and Israeli politicians calling for Jews to be allowed to pray there.

Hamas is looking to start the conflict over again. The question is....why? I doubt they could have restocked their arsenal this soon. So something else must be driving them to incite......but what?

Re: Aftermath of Jerusalem deadly car attack by Palestinian

I hope you don't mind if I take a guess at this one Gail. Just something for you to consider????

In what we call extremist and in Shiite related corners they keep complaining the owo is Christian and Crusaders. They want an Islamic block or union which they believe will eventually take over the owo. (Actually there are christians who believe christians will take over the owo as well. . The theory depending on the belief.) Which is why the Pope may very well be on the top of their hit list.

Fatah as well as Hamas etc has been pushing the UN Security Council to come out and admit their religious beliefs, something at this time they hope will still inflame the Islamic world. Hoping the UN Security Council would rather give them the Temple Mount.

What to keep an eye on??? If the UN Security Council handles this call the same way they did the last one last week.

Obama becoming more of a stick and not a carrot toward them.

imvho??? We must remember they seem to be aware of the owo and the owr beliefs, as well as their own beliefs. They have talked about it for quite a few years now.

Liberman slams MKs for Temple Mount visits as PM says Jerusalem status quo won't change
Israel in the past day has sent diplomatic messages to governments around the world with this message.

“Anyone who says otherwise is representing his own opinion, not that of the government,” Netanyahu’s spokesman Mark Regev said on Thursday morning.
“If you have paid attention, neither I, nor members of my party have gone up to the Temple Mount. We have not issued calls for Israel to exercise sovereignty there,” Liberman said of his Yisrael Beytenu Party.

                The threat was verbalized today????
If Israel doesn't stop Christians and Jews from visiting the Temple Mount..

Palestinian Authority FM warns: Temple Mount tensions could spark religious conflict

"If Israel will continue in the current policy this will lead to an unknown confrontation based on a religious background, which will not stay in Al-Aksa or Jerusalem but will move the confrontation out of Palestine (to the Islamic world)," al-Malki told reporters in a joint conference with his Czech counterpart Lubomir Zaoralek.

But Israel keeps saying they want to keep the "status quo".

Netanyahu and Jordan king call for calm amid tensions

Ahead of a meeting with Indian Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday, Netanyahu said that he had spoken with the Jordanian leader “and we agreed that we’ll do every effort to calm the situation.”

“We have to make every effort to restore calm, quiet and security. But I think we have to make that effort throughout the world,” he added

Under the current status quo at the compound, which is sacred to both Islam and Judaism, Jews are permitted to visit but not to pray there for fear it would cause friction at one of the most sensitive holy sites in the Middle East.

Palestinians trying to change status quo in Jerusalem, PM says

Speaking ahead of a meeting in Jerusalem with the European Union’s new policy chief Federica Mogherini, Netanyahu said Israel was committed “to maintaining the status quo” in the Temple Mount for all faiths, and accused Muslim leaders of conducting a “campaign of vilification and slander that presents Israel as seeking to undermine the mosque” and to change access policies there, which he stressed was “absolutely” not on the table.
“We’ve watched with growing concern the fact that Islamist parties including the Muslim Brotherhood, including Hamas, including (PA President Mahmoud Abbas), have joined in a campaign of inflammation, calling for any action, including violent action, to stop Jews from exercising their right to merely enter the Mount,” Netanyahu said. “This is an arrangement that has been there for many decades, since the Six Day War.

“We stand by the rights of Jews to go to the Mount. They pray in the Western Wall, but they do have a right to go (to the Temple Mount),” he said. “We stand by the right of Muslims to go to the Mount and pray in the al-Aqsa Mosque. They’ve been doing that for many, many decades and will continue to do that.”

EU's incoming foreign minister visits Israel

"We see that there might be a political will to resume the talks and to especially make sure that these talks bring results,” Mogherini said Friday at a joint press conference with Lieberman
On Jerusalem, Netanyahu told Mogherini that “It is our capital, and as such it is not a settlement. The neighborhoods in which Jews live and in which we are building have existed for almost fifty years, under all Israeli governments. Everyone knows that in any peace settlement, they will remain part of Israel.”

Livni to EU's Mogherini: Israel to preserve status quo on Temple Mount

Justice Minister Tzipi Livni told the European Union’s foreign policy chief on Friday that Israel will maintain the status quo on Temple Mount.

“The eyes of the world are on Temple Mount, and there is great fear that the conflict will change from one that is nationalist in nature to one that is religious,” Livni told Federica Mogherini on her first working visit as the EU’s top diplomat.
                              http://www.jpost.com/Breaking-News/L...e-Mount-381120

                              I must repeat...

“The eyes of the world are on Temple Mount, and there is great fear that the conflict will change from one that is nationalist in nature to one that is religious,” Livni told Federica Mogherini on her first working visit as the EU’s top diplomat.
I would say it is to late.

Jordanians protest against Israel, urge end to peace treaty
                              http://www.jpost.com/Breaking-News/J...-treaty-381121

They know it has always been about religion but have been avoiding the subject as they are the political bodies, but now the Arab/Islamic world is forcing it on the table.
The questions in my head??? How long can they avoid the subject? And, is this the door that starts to open for the owr or can it wait until ISIS etc. are defeated?
