  • Kushner claims envoy Friedman went rogue to okay West Bank annexation

This article about Kushner's book seems to confirm the differences between what was said / what some Israelis believe, and what Netanyahu actually agreed/ signed in the plan.

“I grabbed my chair so intensely that my knuckles turned white, as if my grip could make Bibi stop. I had explicitly asked Israeli ambassador [to the US] Ron Dermer to make sure Bibi kept his remarks brief and above the politics of the day,” Kushner continues. “In both tone and substance, the speech was way off the mark. It contained nothing magnanimous or conciliatory toward the Palestinians. It was essentially a campaign speech for his domestic political audience, and it misrepresented our plan.”
“’Where does it say that in here?’ I asked. ‘It doesn’t say that in here. You’re one of the best lawyers in the world. You know that’s not what we agreed to.'”
“Dermer saw that he had gone too far. He apologized and left soon after, knowing that it was up to them to clean up the political mess that Bibi had created,” Kushner writes.

Netanyahu eventually agreed to suspend his annexation plans later that year in exchange for normalizing relations with the UAE — an agreement brokered by Kushner and the Trump administration.

'What the hell was that?': Netanyahu annexation announcement caught Trump off guard | The Times of Israel

So many people to this day believe an error but never wonder why leaders weren't fighting it but praising it.

It is a signed deal the Abraham Accord signers expect to be fulfilled and the other Arab countries are taking a wait and see approach.

The embassy of the United States to the State of Israel will remain in Jerusalem. Following the signing of the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Agreement, the embassy of the United States to the State of Palestine will be in Al Quds….The United States will recognize the State of Israel and the State of Palestine in their respective capitals and encourage other nations to relocate their embassies to Jerusalem and Al Quds, as applicable.

Al-Quds (Arabic: القدس, lit. 'The Holy') is an Arabic name for Jerusalem, cognate with Hebrew: הקדש, romanized: Ha-Qodesh, lit. 'The Holy' sometimes also used in Judeo-Arabic

Which explains why Arab countries like Saudi Arabia etc. were buying expensive properties in Jerusalem. Especially after the Accords were signed.

              not a problem GH
The Israeli election could be very telling as...
Netanyahu never wanted peace with Palestinians: Trump (aa.com.tr)

as he has aligned himself with the religious far right who really don't want non Jews in Israel.

But Lapid Gantz etc. are more open to reaching out to the Palestinians and
Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was "impressed" by the Abraham Accords, Kushner said, but wanted to see how things went with the UAE and whether there was progress with the Palestinians. This runs counter to a narrative in the media at the time that MBS was a proponent of Saudi-Israel normalization, but was held back by King Salman who emphasized the country's traditional ties to the Palestinians.
Trump wanted to scrap peace plan unless Abbas approved - Kushner - Israel News - The Jerusalem Post (jpost.com)

They could. As they say, it is very possible if the Saudis see progress they will bring the rest on board.

Biden pressing Palestinians to cooperate on Abraham Accords, but Abbas undecided | The Times of Israel

US President Joe Biden asked Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for his cooperation as he looks to leverage the Abraham Accords normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab states to advance measures that benefit the Palestinians, a senior administration official told The Times of Israel.

The PA until now has balked at requests to join multilateral initiatives that team up Israel with its new Arab allies, arguing that the Abraham Accords are an attempt to bypass the Palestinian issue.

Abbas did not commit to changing his tune during his meeting with Biden in Bethlehem earlier this month, where the request was made, and his office has yet to get back to the White House on whether it is willing to get on board, the senior US official said Thursday.

“We’ve made very clear that normalization and the implementation of the Abraham Accords is happening. This is a trend, and for the Palestinians to try to stand against it is not in anyone’s interest,” said a second senior US official. “We have found the Arab capitals are very supportive of folding Palestinians into Abraham Accords efforts and we’ve increasingly found the Israelis to be so as well.”

Plus the poll that showed something like only 30% of Palestinians want to replace Israel. The young never got the message so that number is decreasing daily.

Biden approves $5 billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia, UAE to counter Iran | The Times of Israel
The Biden administration on Tuesday approved two massive arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to help them defend against Iran.

The more than $5 billion in missile defense and related sales follow US President Joe Biden’s visit to the Middle East two weeks ago, during which he met with numerous regional leaders in Saudi Arabia. Both Saudi Arabia and the UAE have been hit in recent months with rocket attacks from the Iran-backed Houthi rebel movement in Yemen.
