Wow! This would change the map of Israel in a profound way and send a message to the Palestinians that it is again open season on Israeli Jews. Unbelievable.

Gantz apparently is scrambling, but no one know what would be legal and what won't. I had a thought, I wonder if the world leaders will threaten to send in troops????

You know SAT that thought occurred to me as well. Like a 7 year peace treaty?

I don't know GH but it is really weird. The very thing they have been fighting to hang on to and expand they just divided, separated from the rest.
Another vote???? But Netanyahu has publicly declared they would take the same position. If they call an election it would take at least six months before they correct this.
Will those in the West Bank have to form their own legal system???? That could be very dangerous for the Arabs living there.

          Edit to add

This keeps coming to mind but I have been hesitant to say it.
Is Netanyahu blackmailing them? They will vote to restore but only if he gets to be PM?

            Please note this Artuz Sheva

Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid voiced confidence the measure would pass in its second round of voting.

"We'll come back stronger and get it passed," he wrote on his Twitter account.
If the measure fails to pass additional readings, it will mean that along with a number of security concerns, Israeli citizens living in communities beyond the "Green Line" will cease receiving health insurance and individuals committing crimes within pre-'67 borders may be able to find refuge in Judea and Samaria.

Following the failed vote, Likud faction head MK Yariv Levin said he believed this puts the "nail in the coffin" as far as the current government is concerned.

I think this would be national suicide. And I cannot believe Netanyahu supports this.

UN blames Israel for conflict with Palestinians, to probe discrimination

The brief 18-page report by the UN's "Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the occupied Palestinian territory, including east Jerusalem and Israel" posted on the UN website on Tuesday marks the first of what will be an annual report to the UN's Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The report spoke of Israel's actions in the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem as a situation "in perpetuity," noting that It was unlikely the situation would end without International intervention.
"The commission notes the strength of prima facie credible evidence available that convincingly indicates that Israel has no intention of ending the occupation, has a clear policy of reassuring the complete control over the occupied Palestinian Territory and is acting to alter the demography through the maintenance of a repressive environment for Palestinians and a favorable environment for Israeli settlers," the report stated.
Unlike past UN probs, this one focuses not just on Israeli actions in the territory which the UN holds will eventually be part of the final borders of a Palestinian state, but it also plans to look at Israeli actions within its sovereign borders including with respect to issues of discrimination
The report makes no mention of the word apartheid. It did speak of Israeli discriminatory practices and what it perceived to be its failure to comply with the International Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It spoke in particular of its concern regarding the 2018 Nation-State Law.

It explained that this law could "exacerbate pre-existing and systematic structural discrimination against non-Jews in Israel," it said.

The commission noted that "ending the occupation alone will not be sufficient, however. Other steps must be taken to ensure that all people in Palestine and in Israel are able to enjoy all of their human rights, equality and in full, without any discrimination."

Many on the religious right are not going to agree to this.

Hamas, UN Commission share same goal: to destroy the Jewish state, Israeli activist says as new report bashes Israel | All Israel News

“The Commission of Inquiry ignored the real reasons that led Israel to defend its citizens against the murderous terrorist organizations that are committing a double war crime: firing at Israeli civilians from within civilian areas in the Gaza Strip.”

While she doesn’t expect the UN to change, Darshan-Leitner said her organization’s aim is to delegitimize the Commission and to discredit its findings.

The report's authors cited "credible" evidence that "convincingly indicates that Israel has no intention of ending the occupation" and has plans to ensure complete control of Palestinian areas.
The report also voiced criticism of Palestinian leaders, saying the Palestinian Authority frequently refers to the "occupation" as a justification for its own human rights violations. It also points to the "occupation" as the core reason for the failure to hold legislative and presidential elections, the authors said. The PA is widely criticized for corruption and intolerance for dissent.

As for Hamas authorities in Gaza, the commission said they show little commitment toward upholding human rights and little adherence to international law. Since seizing control of Gaza in 2007, Hamas has shown little tolerance for political dissent and has been accused of torturing opponents.
