  • Becoming sin

I want to share something the Lord has put on my heart to meditate over.
    Well known verse by most:

    2 Cor 5:21 (kjv)
"For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin..."
The "to be" is added by translators...it's not in the original.
"knew" is that intimate acquaintance with...sin, in this case.

This hit me last night while I was praying.
God is love (1 John 4:8)
God is LIGHT (1 John 1:5) (and in Him is NO DARKNESS at all)
    God BECAME sin (our verse)

The horror of this became just a tiny bit more real to me. In that moment, while Jesus hung on the cross, He became what was abhorrent to His very nature/essence. I believe we will never fully grasp what it meant for Jesus Christ to become sin, then to die the sinner's death, being forsaken (abandoned) by God the Father.

    Why did He do this?
Because the essence of God IS LOVE

    Amen and amen.
He took our sins and gave us eternity.

And when He BECAME sin, the Father had to abandon/forsake Him. God could do nothing else in the presence of sin. Amazing Grace to we, the undeserving and unappreciative
