  • At G7-Trump: 'Deal of century' may be revealed before Israeli election

The peace deal known as the "deal of the century" may be revealed before the Israeli election on September 17, US President Donald Trump said on Monday while attending the G7 summit in France.

He said that he believes both the Israelis and Palestinians are interested in a peace deal and that the Palestinians will come to the table in order to receive American funding, which had been suspended.

Trump also said on Monday he wanted to see a strong Iran and was not seeking regime change in Tehran, adding that the way Iranians were being forced to live was unacceptable.

      lol

although this is actually what Pres. Trump stated
Speaking on the sidelines of the G7 meeting in France before a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel al-Sisi, Trump said that while the entire plan would not be released before the election, “I think you may see what the deal is before the election.”
this is how some are seeing it...

US President Donald Trump hinted on Monday that parts of his long-awaited Mideast peace plan may be released before the September 17 election, leading to some speculation that this may include elements of the plan that may help Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the polls.
only the parts that will help Netanyahu.

      big shrug

I suspect if what we hear is only pro Israel that will mean there is another shoe to drop after.

Israel alarmed by possible Trump-Rouhani talks, fears he’ll let Iran off hook

Ministers said to cite US president’s dialogue with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un as disturbing precedent, ‘but our capacity to influence and confront Trump is extremely limited
To say that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is uncomfortable with the US president’s newly open-minded stance on Iran “is the understatement of the millennium,” Israel’s Channel 13 reported, quoting what it said were three senior cabinet ministers expressing profound concern that just as Trump has “gotten nowhere” with North Korea, while relieving the economic pressure on Pyongyang, the same would now happen with Iran.
“We have no interest in a negotiations between the United States and Iran,” the TV report quoted one minister saying, “but our capacity to influence and confront Trump is extremely limited.” This, the report went on, was because Trump has “bear-hugged” Netanyahu so tightly that going out against him is deemed impossible.

I've said it before but this was one of the points of contention Netanyahu had with Obama. Netanyahu wanted regime change even if it was by force. Not the "deal".

Barak calls potential Trump-Rouhani talks a ‘red light’ for all of Israel

“I think he’s going to want to meet. I think Iran wants to get this situation straightened out,” Trump added.
He also called Rouhani a “great negotiator,” and indicated he might be open to Iran being offered “a short-term line of credit or loan” to help its economy. “We’re talking about a letter of credit,” he specified. “It would be from numerous countries.” Tehran “may need some money to get over a very rough patch” caused by US economic sanctions, he explained.
This found an echo in Tehran, where Rouhani said more vaguely that he would not miss an opportunity to meet with someone who could help “the interests of the state” and solve some of its difficulties.
The former PM is not the only one who is concerned about Trump’s about-face with Iran. Top ministers echoed his fears on Monday, according to a Channel 13 report.
To say that Netanyahu is uncomfortable with the US president’s newly open-minded stance on Iran “is the understatement of the millennium,” the report said, quoting what it said were three senior cabinet ministers expressing profound concern that just as Trump has “gotten nowhere” with North Korea, while relieving the economic pressure on Pyongyang, the same would now happen with Iran.

I thought I would add this quote as many were thinking the same about the Palestinians.

"We were very lucky that until now the Iranians rejected all of Trump's proposals for talks."
            https://www.axios.com/top-israeli-of...d7fee820b.html

One possible venue could be next month's UN General Assembly meeting in New York. Trump, Rouhani and Macron are all expected to attend. Netanyahu, meanwhile, might not be at the annual meeting because it falls 10 days after Israel's elections.
As there is a very good chance Israel will still be manoeuvring to form a government.

US backs Iraqi action against ‘external actors’ after alleged Israeli strikes

The US Defense Department appeared to distance itself from recent attacks against Shiite militia bases in Iraq attributed to Israel, backing Baghdad’s sovereignty and promising to cooperate with Iraqi investigations.
Baghdad has fumed over a series of mysterious attacks on the Iran-backed Popular Mobilizations Forces recently, which have been attributed to Israel with tacit US support.
“We support Iraqi sovereignty and have repeatedly spoken out against any potential actions by external actors inciting violence in Iraq,” Pentagon spokesman Jonathan R. Hoffman said in a statement late Monday.
“The government of Iraq has the right to control their own internal security and protect their democracy.”

Iraqi PM: 'Iraq ready to respond to aggression with all available means'

The cabinet confirmed Iraq's "full commitment to its constitutional and national responsibilities to defend the security and safety of Iraq, its people and national sovereignty over all its soil."
Iraq is ready to respond firmly and with all available means to any aggression launched from outside or inside the country, said Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi on Tuesday, according to Al Sumaria.

The Prime minister gave a briefing on the latest political and security developments in a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, according to Mahdi's office. The cabinet was briefed on the results of the ongoing investigations into the attacks on weapons stores and munitions in a number of places.

Greenblatt totally contradicting Trump, who also wanted to release the plan before the last election.
"Peace plan won't be released before Israeli election"

US envoy announces that neither the plan, nor parts of it, will be released prior to elections in Israel.

Sometimes I think the powers that be are having a lot of fun giving out info then denying it - over and over.
Whether it is parts of the plan that "are" in it or "oh, no they're not" to when it will be released to ...
I think they enjoy drawing more and more attention to it.

                    Hi Andy

                    My guess???
I suspect we saw the clue before the last election in Israel. Pres. Trump perceives the reception of the peace deal quite differently from Netanyahu, Greenblatt, Kushner and Freidman.

The plan was for Netanyahu to win the last election so they did a lot of prep work only to be stymied.

Sometimes you can see the pressure from other world leaders causing comments to be released. Like the G7 meeting.

One of the odd little things you notice every once in a while??? Like comments made by Macron last weekend.

They claim only Trump, Kushner, Greenblatt and Freidman know what is in the plan. But frequently you hear comments by other world leaders, which aren't denied, they know some things. Macron last weekend even stated he had made suggestions to the plan.

In the end Netanyahu, Kushner, Greenblatt and Freidman are all counting on Netanyahu to win and get a firm handle/ control of the government before they let the full impact be released.

                    big shrug

Netanyahu 'frantically' tried to avert Trump-Zarif meeting

Netanyahu tried to scuttle a potential Trump-Zarif meeting

Upon learning that Zarif was at the G-7, Netanyahu attempted many times to call Trump with the help of US Ambassador David Friedman, so that he could avert a meeting.

According to the reports, he feared that such a conversation would pave the way to a Trump meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

Netanyahu tells Macron ‘now precisely not the time to talk to Iran’

The Prime Minister’s Office said Netanyahu told Macron Israel would defend itself from attacks by enemies who desire its destruction.
                          Apparently, including in Iraq.

Netanyahu’s staff also contacted members of the US administration to try to schedule a phone call. However, administration officials said Trump was too busy in meetings at the high-level summit to take the phone call.
The foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany — the three European parties to the deal — were to be joined by EU diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini for talks Friday on salvaging the deal, which curbed sanctions in exchange for limits on Iran’s nuclear program.

US President Donald Trump said Friday that the US had nothing to do with the apparent failure of an Iranian space rocket launch.
“The United States of America was not involved in the catastrophic accident during final launch preparations for the Safir SLV Launch at Semnan Launch Site One in Iran,” Trump said in a tweet.
“I wish Iran best wishes and good luck in determining what happened at Site One,” he added.
