PM said pushing rare plan for Palestinian construction in West Bank’s Area C
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to get the approval of his ministers for an extremely rare plan to promote Palestinian construction in areas of the West Bank under full Israeli control, alongside settlement construction, the Kan public broadcaster reports.
Netanyahu and his cabinet ministers have held two lengthy discussions on the matter in recent days, without reaching an agreed outline, the report says.
Another detail that stands out is that Netanyahu is trying to achieve unanimous approval among the ministers for the controversial plan, which is guaranteed to raise the ire of right-wing ministers such as Bezalel Smotrich.
The development comes days before an expected visit by Jared Kushner, special adviser to US President Donald Trump and the main author of the White House’s Israeli-Palestinian peace plan.
Kan says it is unknown whether Netanyahu’s plan is connected with the peace plan or Kushner’s visit, but quotes unnamed ministers saying the matter is “extremely sensitive.”

    reminder

This didn't go over very well.

Greenblatt holds door open for east Jerusalem as Palestinian capital

Israel Begins Tearing Down Palestinian Housing on Edge of East Jerusalem

Israeli equipment arrived before dawn on Monday and began clawing at the first of 10 Palestinian apartment blocks that were scheduled for demolition because the government said they were built too close to its security barrier in a Palestinian area of the West Bank abutting Israeli-annexed East Jerusalem

Right in uproar over Netanyahu’s Palestinian building plan

The Israeli right is in an uproar over a KANN report that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security cabinet meeting to promote a Palestinian building plan for Area C in advance of a visit by US envoy Jared Kushner.

“If it’s true that this is an American demand, then we expect our government to say loud and clear - enough!” Gush Etzion Regional Council head Shlomo Neeman said.
The prime minister “must stop the delusional demands of our great friend [US President Donald Trump]” who, if he is a friend, would understand.

Plus Pompeo recently ….I can't help but remember the number of times Greenblatt, Kushner & Trump have stated it would be painful for Israel

One of many reminders of the position being taken????

and again-Republican Senator Lindsey Graham: One-state solution is dangerous

“If you believe in a democratic secure Israel [and] you absorb the Palestinians, they will eventually demographically outvote the Jewish state. So that does not work."

I wonder if the decision has been made yet to disclose the rest of the plan?????

          and today....

PA premier: Without two-state solution, Israel will suffer ‘demographic death’

If a two-state solution is not achieved, Israel will suffer “demographic death” and will not be able to exist as a democratic state, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said on Tuesday.
“Israel stands today before a big challenge — either the two-state solution or a demographic death,

Security cabinet approves plan granting Palestinians 700 building permits

Palestinians are rarely granted building permits in Area C, and recent years have seen the total number of approvals remain in the single digits, compared to the thousands of green-lighted homes for Israeli settlers.

              He talks about two state

US envoy: Trump peace plan will encourage Palestinian ‘autonomy’

He also praised the Israeli security cabinet’s approval of Palestinian construction in the West Bank’s Area C and said the US administration has been encouraging Israel to improve conditions for the Palestinians in the area.

It is always intriguing when Friedman speaks as he is always more restrained then Greenblatt.

But he seems to confirm it was the US who pressure Israel.

Israeli MKs to Congress: Thanks, but BDS bill 'dangerous for Israel'

                https://www.jpost.com/American-Polit...-Israel-598392

                https://www.jpost.com/BDS-THREAT/Hou...olution-596627

The resolution reaffirms strong support "for a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict resulting in two states – a democratic Jewish State of Israel, and a viable, democratic Palestinian state – living side by side in peace, security and mutual recognition."

                edit to add

Twenty-one Knesset Members addressed an unusual letter to U.S. Congress and AIPAC lobby members, expressing concern and criticism for approving the anti-BDS resolution in the U.S. Congress after introducing clauses supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The most amazing thing about all this imvho???? None of the key players are talking the same way as the above MKs(once again). It has gotten to the point Netanyahu is just trying to salvage as much land as he can. Get the best deal possible. It is now accepted it will be two states.

Before election, PM aims for Trump backing for Israel sovereignty at settlements
