Tool for writing textbooks free of prejudice

The International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) and UNESCO convened education experts to test a tool to assist educators in writing textbooks which are free of stereotypes and prejudices about culture, religion and gender. The tool is needed to assist in curriculum development worldwide as well as to assess current textbooks in circulation or develop new ones. It will eventually be used to communicate curriculum recommendations to textbook authors, in both public and private sectors. KAICIID and UNESCO organized the workshop to test the tool in Vienna, Austria, from 1-3 July 2015. The importance of textbooks in influencing societies cannot be emphasised enough. As Noro Andriamiseza from UNESCO explained: “a curriculum consists of more than textbooks, but textbooks are an important part of a curriculum, the most visible part”. Textbooks can support diversity and coexistence, but when they include prejudices, they can divide societies. The workshop aimed to gain feedback and recommendations to further improve the tool prior to its publication.

    Yep
It seems like all this "craziness" is pushing them together in the name of "peace and security".

You have to admit, with all the craziness going on right now, if someone like Francis could pull off a peace deal between all the religions of the world, everyone would fall down and worship him.

"Patriarch accepted invitation to visit Vatican"

Serbian Orthodox Patriarch Irinej has accepted an invitation to visit Catholic Pope Francis in the Vatican, says Catholic Bishop of Zrenjanin Ladislav Nemet.
"All present members of the Holy Synod, and the delegation of the Holy See were in agreement that this visit should certainly occur," he told the Novi Sad-based daily Dnevnik, and added:

"Now diplomatic negotiations are ongoing regarding the manner of organizing the visit, which is not the easiest, knowing the schedule of Pope Francis, and also of his holiness, Patriarch Irinej."

    Just a little side note...

Uganda interfaith group’s tunes win prize

The CD, on Smithsonian Folkways Records, was created by Peace Kawomera, an interfaith cooperative of fair trade coffee growers started by J.J. Keki, a long-time leader of the Abayudaya, the Jewish community of Uganda. Keki, respected for his courage in sustaining Uganda’s Jews through repressive times, organized the coffee cooperative as a way to foster economic development and peaceful relations among Jewish, Christian and Muslim Ugandans.

You are spot on Issachar - I was brought up a Catholic and became a Christian through a rather full on Catholic Charismatic Youth Group during the early '80's. We were far more like Evangelical Protestants than Catholics. The more I read my Bible however the more I could not see a future for myself within the Catholic Church and when I brought these things up like purgatory and Mary I was hushed and spoken to by those higher in the group - I was amazed how quickly people turned back to slavery when they had been set free. By the standards of the Catholic Church unless you make a death bed confession and have Extremunction (Last Rights) then everyone is going to have to spend some time in purgatory.

500,000 churches Rick Warren says he is associated with ... obvious to me at least that he is a closet post- millennialist -- that he really doesn't think Jesus is coming back and that our task in his "new reformation" is to re-make the world into a better place... He opposes prophecy teaching in his church, says the time of Jesus return is "none of our business" and our gospel is to make the world better and better... ...
Making the world better and better so that Jesus can return (post millennialism) was a very popular view in the 19th century--until the 1st world war that discouraged this idea...

Yet, all of this 'unity' is happening by the effort of people with a "nice" intention. They do wonderful things. They definitely say wonderful things. It is soooo important, as many of us have posted over the years, to be in the Word, know the Word .. really know the Word and by God's grace, stand. The winds blowing across this land and around the world, are very tumultuous.

Without an anchor in the Rock, we'd be blown about in every direction before finally settling in the camp of the evil one; that place for all those not found in the Word.

This one world religion thing is happening very fast.

    Fatima and Mary

Mary is known as Our lady of Fatima. She is the only woman found in the Qu'ran and there is a whole book about her.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatimah

Muslim exegesis of the Qur'anic verse 3:42, links the praise of Mary, the mother of Jesus, with that of Fatimah based on a quote attributed to Muhammad that lists the outstanding women of all time as Mary, Asiya (the wife of Pharaoh), Khadija and Fatimah (the all Muslim commentaries insists upon the absolute superiority of Fatimah).[34
One of Mary's names is Our Lady of Fatima. Wondering if this will link Christianity/Islam in prayer?
