The End of MWM

Greetings all,

Letting everyone know that after somewhere around 28 years, when our annual hosting expires on 08/24/2025, Millennium Weekend Ministries we will not be renewing. Lack of interest for the past many years makes it clear to Esther and me that it does not make any sense to continue to keep the site running.

Many thanks to the handful of folks that have stuck it out with us. Perhaps very soon we shall all meet when we hear the glorious voice of our Savior calling us home to the Father's house. Certainly any who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation, repenting with a "broken and contrite heart" (Ps 34:18 and 51:17) will find mercy and will indeed be caught up together to meet our Savior in the air.

What a glorious day that will be.

In Christ alone,
Andy

  • Posting On WeDG - New Format Help (I hope!)

Something I'm working on - it's not complete. Please let me know if it's helpful and/or all the links work.

Various Reply options in a thread:
    1. Reply to Thread: http://prntscr.com/25pe6d
    a. This is a general thread-reply and is not you replying to any specific entry in the thread. If you’re replying TO someone then you would not use this option

    2. Reply: http://prntscr.com/25pem7
    a. This opens a “Quick Reply” box directly under the message you are replying to http://prntscr.com/25pevt Notice the original message (that you are replying to) is not quoted. Then below this box you have 2 options
    i. Post Quick Reply http://prntscr.com/25pf6o – this will simply post what you just entered into the box. It will be a “Reply” to an already posted message but will not have anything of the original message within it. There are very few options here, e.g. you can’t add emoticons to OR within the post.
ii. Go Advanced http://prntscr.com/25pg05 - if you hit this option an entirely new box opens up. This is where you have all options available. Full post formatting, emoticons, etc.

    3. Reply With Quote: http://prntscr.com/25pg9y
    a. This opens the same “Post Quick Reply” box as above but now you’ll notice the person’s post is now visible and in the Quote format: http://prntscr.com/25pgks
    b. The rest is the same – below this box you still have both options to Post Quick Reply or Go Advanced.

    >>>ONLY <<< "post Quick reply" and "go advanced 'has been at the bottom of the text box I type in and every time I click on my only option ""post Quick reply"" I am told I have to wait 30 seconds before I can reply to a thread..... I use Firefox if that matters....

Thanks Andy. What bugs me though is when you hit "Post Quick Reply", it repeats the Quick Reply entry screen rather than going back to the thread. I think this confuses many of us and is probably the reason for so many duplicate posts, because we are unsure the reply actually got posted, and we hit "Submit Reply" again.

Okay, well, if this is helpful then I don't mind continuing - stay tuned, I'll try to work more on it tonight. Feedback like this is very helpful because unless I know where folks are getting confused I can't very easily address it.

Okay, so I've clicked on "Reply with quote" and this is the box that came up. I'm below your text and typing my reply.
Beneath are two boxes, one says "Post Quick Reply" the other "Go Advanced".
You're saying 1. "Go Advanced" is not an option for you (why not?) and if you hit "Post Quick Reply" you're told you have to wait 30 seconds? I'm going to screenshot this.

I so wish I could duplicate what you've described, brother. I don't know whether my lack of seeing what you're experiencing has anything to do with me being an Administrator or what but both you and Lewis describe things I simply do not see or experience. I wish I could so I might be able to address the issue.

I know the two of you are not the only ones having issues - I've gotten emails from folks that have had to stop posting because they didn't understand the new format. I'm sorry to those that are reading this and it's true of you. As y'all know there is no going back - we have to try to make this work. I'm here to help however I can but if I can't duplicate a problem I am not sure how I can help resolve it.

BTW, when I click the Post Quick Reply my screen briefly goes to this http://prntscr.com/2pmq90 then I'm taken to the thread where I see my new post.

Oh and the last time I posted it did not send me back to Wedg and I had to go to my favorites and reopen wedg again... Its ok, as long as I can get there... I know you are trying hard and it will take awhile to get everything sorted out

It could be a Firefox issue if you're doing the site in IE or?? ....

No, brother Lewis, it's not Firefox as I am typing this message using FF version 26 right now (unless you have a very old version of FF).

When I hit "Post Quick Reply", it takes me back to the Reply screen, with a button on the lower right that says "Submit Reply". If you hit that, you will double post. I took a screen shot of the window I receive after I hit "Post Quick Reply". I will send you the shot in an e-mail.

I am running on an iMac, OS-X, with Safari.

Perhaps you should sign in with a ghost account that does not have Admin rights. That way you could log in there if issues like these arise again.

Re: Posting On WeDG - New Format Help (I hope!)

I read wlnf's post #10. Under it, I clicked on "reply." I got this "quick reply" box I am typing in right now. I see at the bottom of THIS box, there are three buttons ... "post quick reply", "go advanced" and "cancel." Lewis .. in case this is what you were seeing .. or not .. the "go advanced" button doesn't show until after I click on "reply."

Now I'll click on "post quick reply" .. and as wlnf stated, I suspect I will see a second option to post rather than just going back to the thread. At that point, since the new ver.software, I've just clicked on my WeDG link to start over on the forum page. If I were to click on the second "post thread" (I don't remember exactly what it says .. but will when I post this), then I'd get two of the same post posted. Clear as tupperware?

Issachar .. using "go advanced" in next post ..

Just clicked on "reply" under my last post and immediately clicked on "Go Advanced" and got this text box to type in which, as Andy stated, has all the fancy schmancy stuff for formatting.

Now I have "Preview Post" (which I love) and "Submit Reply."

Ok .. "preview" worked fine, thank you. And then "submit reply" posted my post and took me right to the thread. So from now on, I'll click on "reply" and immediately click on "go advanced" and like it all again.

Sort of round about way, but it works. My point, if you click on "Post Quick Reply", you will be taken to another screen, with your post, with "Submit Reply" in lower right. If you click on that, you will double post. If instead you hit the back button, you will be taken back to the thread, with your post now in the thread.
