  • Obama: Arab anti-Semitism, Palestinian conflict dog Israeli-Arab accord

“With respect to Israel, the interests of Israel in stability and security are actually very closely aligned with the interests of the Sunni states,” Obama said in an interview published in the New Yorker and referring to common cause between Israel and countries such as Saudi Arabia on Iran.

“What’s preventing them from entering into even an informal alliance with at least normalized diplomatic relations is not that their interests are profoundly in conflict but the Palestinian issue, as well as a long history of anti-Semitism that’s developed over the course of decades there, and anti-Arab sentiment that’s increased inside of Israel based on seeing buses being blown up,” Obama said. “If you can start unwinding some of that, that creates a new equilibrium.”

Netanyahu: We can’t have a ‘Palestine’ run by Iran

Of course Israel would highlight the fact Rouhani omitted Israel but the business and political elite have also noticed the absence of Saudi Arabia, Qatar etc. Plus their position on Syria. Nothing has changed in Iran's position which is being noted in the many mainstream articles.

Iran wants full nuclear deal and investment, Rouhani tells Davos

He called for cooperation with all Iran's neighbours but did not mention Gulf rival Saudi Arabia by name and refused, when pressed twice, to include Israel among states with which Iran sought friendly relations.

They believe they have made the middle east slightly safer but also know the extended hand isn't working.

Kerry: Military option on table if Iran keeps enriching

The US military is prepared to act against Iran if Tehran tries to continue the enrichment of uranium or break out toward a nuclear weapons capability, US Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday.

          So it seems.
"I don't think that would last very long. I don't think that's a wise choice for Iran," he added.
"Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism. Iran is sponsoring Hezbollah right now. Hezbollah is engaged in the violence in Syria. We find that very objectionable. And there are other ways in which Iran has supported terror in the region. We don't agree with that, nor do our friends," he said.

"But you have to take it one step at a time. We are focused on the first step, which is the nuclear program. We are prepared to engage with Iran on the other issues," he continued.

When asked if the United States will ask Iran to disarm Hezbollah, Kerry said "absolutely," adding that the US believes Iran "should stop supporting Hezbollah completely and totally."

Iran: No need for nuclear watchdog office Tehran

“Considering the volume of nuclear activities in the country, there is no need for a nuclear watchdog office in Iran,” said Tehran’s delegate at IAEA headquarters in Vienna Saturday. This rejection of an IAEA request further set back the assurance by US President Obama that the interim accord had guaranteed that UN monitors would make daily inspections of nuclear sites to ensure Iran’s compliance with its commitments.
