The End of MWM

Greetings all,

Letting everyone know that after somewhere around 28 years, when our annual hosting expires on 08/24/2025, Millennium Weekend Ministries we will not be renewing. Lack of interest for the past many years makes it clear to Esther and me that it does not make any sense to continue to keep the site running.

Many thanks to the handful of folks that have stuck it out with us. Perhaps very soon we shall all meet when we hear the glorious voice of our Savior calling us home to the Father's house. Certainly any who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation, repenting with a "broken and contrite heart" (Ps 34:18 and 51:17) will find mercy and will indeed be caught up together to meet our Savior in the air.

What a glorious day that will be.

In Christ alone,
Andy

  • Kerry gains Arab backing for framework peace plan

US Secretary of State returning to Jerusalem with key support in pocket after meetings in Amman and Riyadh

“I am grateful that the Arab League as a whole and Saudi Arabia individually will be significantly involved in helping build support for this effort,” Kerry said at the Riyadh airport prior to his departure. “Today his majesty was not just encouraging, but supported our efforts in the hopes that we can be successful in the days ahead.”

Palestinians pour cold water on Kerry's optimism about peace talks

    http://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/Pal...e-talks-337153

Fatah official says Kerry proposed the idea of a "greater Jerusalem" as a capital for two states. The proposal does not consider east Jerusalem as part of the "territories occupied in 1967" and would destroy US peace efforts.

He said that the Palestinians rejected the idea because it was not clear whether Jerusalem’s borders would extend all the way to the Dead Sea or stop at Abu Dis (on the eastern outskirts of the city).

Al-Ahmed reiterated the PA’s opposition to any Israeli presence in the Jordan Valley or any other part of Palestinian territories.

However, he said that the Palestinians have no objections to the presence of an international force or a joint American-Jordanian force in the Jordan Valley.

“Kerry started talking about a framework agreement during his last three visits to the region,” al-Ahmed said. “He proposed a security plan which the Palestinian side considered a step back from previous agreements with the US and former prime minister Ehud Olmert.”

He claimed that the US “retraction” encourages Israel to ignore international legitimacy and previous understandings between Olmert and PA President Mahmoud Abbas.

Al-Ahmed also reiterated the PA’s opposition to extending the peace talks beyond the nine-month period set by Kerry and which expires in April 2014. He denied the existence of a secret channel for talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

Not a surprise. Nothing has changed. Nothing has been agreed on. But that doesn't seem to be stopping them from making it sound soooo positive.

A senior State Department official said Kerry had wanted to “seek their counsel on the discussion with the Israelis and Palestinians about a framework for final status negotiations.”

He then flew to Saudi Arabia for talks with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah in Riyadh.

“Thank you so much for agreeing to see me on such short notice,” Kerry told the king after arriving on a short helicopter flight from Riyadh airport.

“It’s a special privilege to visit you out here in the desert.”

Jordan borders the occupied West Bank and under its 1994 peace treaty with Israel is recognized as playing a historic role in the guardianship of Muslim sites in east Jerusalem.

King Abdullah was the author of a 2002 Arab League peace initiative, which Kerry praised again Sunday as holding out the prospect for “instantaneously” reaching peace between Israel and “22 Arab nations and 35 Muslim nations, all of whom have said they will recognize Israel if peace is achieved.”

Something will give pretty soon...the Saudi plan is what the U.S. has always been following since 2002

Yep, they have gone beyond the place of return or stall it seems. Logistics and God's timing I would guess.

You really have to wonder cnav...
2014: Changing of the guard in the EU
The European Parliament will stop work in Spring ahead of the 22 to 25 May vote. Many will be looking to new political horizons.
Two self-effacing people - Herman Van Rompuy and Catherine Ashton - were given the then new posts of EU Council chief and foreign minister in 2009.

Bigger personalities are being mentioned as their possible successors.

Can it all really be that close????? I guess we will know soon enough.

                  PS
If the Gulf Cooperation Council(GCC union) and the Arab League now agree, it does open the door for all the players to participate.

Saudi King backs Israeli-Palestinian push, Kerry says

                    http://www.trust.org/item/20140105202142-y3ll9

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal also emerged from the desert talks upbeat, calling the rainfall a "great" omen and describing the meeting as "excellent."

"There is really no meeting that could have been smoother and more productive than this meeting," Saud al-Faisal told reporters while seated beside Kerry in an airport reception room.

"It's a meeting that ... belies any bad vibes about relations that were expressed in many of the media lately," he added, referring to widespread reports of U.S.-Saudi strains over U.S. policy toward Iran, Syria and Egypt.

The foreign minister did not specifically echo Kerry's comments about Saudi support for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process but he said an agreement that meets the Palestinians' aspirations "will receive the full support of Saudi Arabia".

Please hang in there. I'm not contradicting all the articles. Those at Debka must be scratching their heads....

Gloom in Kerry’s party over widening Israeli-Palestinian gaps. Jordan rejects Palestinian security on its border

The prime minister for his part asked Kerry to stop interfering in Israeli domestic politics by organizing a faction opposed to government strategy in the negotiations with the Palestinians.
                        http://www.debka.com/article/23575/

So how can both be true??? Kerry hasn't gotten anyone to agree but that isn't the message he is sending. He gave Israel and the Palestinians until the end of December to work it out. And now we have all the key outside players rejoicing. See articles posted by cnav or check out the deal that was made with those same rejoicers many years ago.

Former Mossad chief: Jordan Valley not a vital Israeli security asset

                            http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomac...emium-1.567066
The Jordan Valley is not essential to Israel’s security because the country is not facing a threat from the east, said former Mossad director Meir Dagan, days after a ministerial panel supported legislation to officially annex the Israeli settlements in the valley, which borders Jordan.

“I have no problem with the political demand that the valley should be part of the State of Israel,” Dagan said in a lecture at a Kfar Saba cafĂ© last week, according to Maariv. “Such a position is permissible. What bothers me is that it’s being depicted as some kind of security problem. There is no Iraqi army, there is no eastern front. There’s peace with Jordan. I don’t like the talk that the valley is essential to Israel’s security.”

Dagan said citing security reasons for retaining the Jordan Valley was “manipulation.”
