Blue and White releases its political platform: ‘No second disengagement’

On security and diplomacy, centrist party’s manifesto hews to many right-wing policy points, vows to bring to a referendum any ‘historic political decision’
The centrist Blue and White party on Wednesday released its long-awaited political platform, laying out for the first time its positions on major policy issues in a detailed document that includes promises to retain Israeli control of major settlement blocs and a series of proposals challenging the current Orthodox hold on religion and state issues.
The party, which is projected to be the top vote-getter in April’s election, said the platform lays out its “worldview on issues that are most important to the Israeli public.”
Knowing the direction Netanyahu seems to be going and where Gantz is going, this could end up being a very important statement.
According to its introduction, the 45-page manifesto “addresses all the essentialissues facing the State of Israel and the citizens of Israel… embodying the right of Israeli citizens to live in dignity, security, prosperity and freedom.”

The reasons I'm posting these are because this is a subject that has risen up in Israel. Very different visions for Israel's future. Some fear Israel at the very least is becoming a theocracy under Netanyahu. And some fear much worse....
There are no second-class citizens, Rivlin says, in implicit rebuke of Netanyahu
            https://www.timesofisrael.com/there-...-at-netanyahu/

For Netanyahu, all Israelis are equal, but some are more equal than others
Last July, a few days after the controversial Jewish Nation-State bill was voted into law, the Jerusalem Report magazine fired its longtime cartoonist Avi Katz for drawing the legislation’s champions as pigs from George Orwell’s 1945 classic “Animal Farm.”
Above the illustration, Katz wrote the book’s most famous line, “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.”
One can argue over whether it’s ever appropriate to draw Jews as pigs. But in Orwell’s novel, they represent a corrupt ruling class claiming that all animals have the same rights when really they don’t, and that was clearly the point Katz wanted to make

Especially after rallying to bring in a banned far right group and succeeding.

Question??? If it did would that open the door for the Sanhedrin to have actual power???

If so, Israel would be right back to 2000 years ago?????

UAE minister slams Netanyahu for ‘repugnant’ nation-state comments

“Not only are PM Netanyahu’s comments that ‘Israel is not a state for all its citizens’ repugnant, but they provide vindication sought by extremists. The road to peace is further undermined by this shameful approach,” Anwar Gargash, the UAE’s minister of state for foreign affairs, tweeted.
Turkey also denounced Netanyahu on Tuesday for his remark that Israel is not the nation-state of all of its citizens.
“I strongly condemn this blatant racism and discrimination,” presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin wrote on his official Twitter account both in Turkish and English.
“1.6 million Arabs/Muslims live in Israel. Will the Western governments react or keep silent under pressure again?” he asked.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told lawmakers from his ruling Likud party that it would have lost the upcoming national elections if not for an alliance he brokered of far-right factions, in a recording aired Tuesday on Israeli television.
“I say we would have lost the elections. Without this merger we would’ve lost,” Netanyahu said in the recording aired by the Kan public broadcaster
                      https://www.timesofisrael.com/in-rec...ection-defeat/

The problem??? With a coalition government you have to please those you bring into your coalition, as they can also bring you down if you don't keep them happy.

You have to promise them positions as the heads of ministries

With AIPAC just weeks away this article adds to the clues there is a growing divide

MIDDLE ISRAEL | Likud to Diaspora: Drop dead

The attempted removal of American Jewry’s representative from the official Independence Day ceremony is part of the ruling party’s broader arrogance, ingratitude, and abuse of Diaspora Jewry
Regev’s real motivation will never be admitted, but was as transparent as the rest of her populistic shticks
Regev backtracked following an outcry led by Jewish Agency Chairman Isaac Herzog, but clearly the prospect of a torch being lit by Alan Dershowitz – as was suggested before her cancellation – was for her meaningless. She does not read what he writes, and she does not face the enemies he voluntarily fights daily for all of us.

Looking to the future, Likudniks should ask themselves how they will want distant Jews to feel on the cloudy day when, say, hell breaks loose between Israel and Iran: Will they want them to feel that Israel’s wars are their wars, or that Israel is for them what the Diaspora is for Miri Regev: a fifth wheel at best, a thorn in the side at worst.
