Not prophecy related but I thought this interesting as things just push forward. The death of an industry.

Europe Is Closing a Whole Lot of Coal Mines on January 1

Coal mines closing at a faster rate under Pres. Trump than Obama
However, across America, more and more coal-fired smokestacks are smoke free.
The power plants beneath them are cold and dark.
The mines that once fed them; abandoned.

Even China is very quickly moving away from coal

A total of 11 prefecture-level cities in China's coal hub Shanxi Province have established no-coal zones in its urban districts to tackle air pollution, local authorities said.
The storage, sales and use of coal are all banned in the no-coal zones, according to the Shanxi Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment.
The authorities said the area covered by the no-coal zones will be gradually expanded.

Some interesting articles and some .. same ol', same ol' ..

Great topic though as we move further into the last days.

These days, there is a big push by some groups for solar (photovoltaic) electricity production and wind. They are both very hazardous to the environment; especially photovoltaic. Much greater than coal when coal is used responsibly with the latest coal burning technology.

    Greenhouse Gases

The production of solar panels often involves extremely potent greenhouse gases. One common compound in the industry is nitrogen trifluoride, which is 17,000 times more potent than carbon dioxide at trapping solar energy. Sulfur hexafluoride, another compound used to create certain types of panels, is the most potent greenhouse gas known to exist. While manufacturers design their production lines to trap these harmful gases, any breach in confinement could cause significant environmental damage. Hazardous Byproducts

In addition to the gases used, solar panel manufacture also produces toxic byproducts and polluted water. Each ton of polysilicon produced for solar panels produces four tons of silicon tetrachloride, a toxin that can poison topsoil and make it unsuitable for plant growth. An environmental impact study by San Jose State University suggests that it would take a solar panel one to three months, on average, to offset the energy required to deal with the toxic wastes used in its production.

National Geographic has this to say:

How Green Are Those Solar Panels, Really?

As the world seeks cleaner power, solar energy capacity has increased sixfold in the past five years. Yet manufacturing all those solar panels, a Tuesday report shows, can have environmental downsides.

Fabricating the panels requires caustic chemicals such as sodium hydroxide and hydrofluoric acid, and the process uses water as well as electricity, the production of which emits greenhouse gases. It also creates waste. These problems could undercut solar's ability to fight climate change and reduce environmental toxics.

    . . . .

The annual scorecard was created by the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition (SVTC), a San Francisco-based nonprofit that has tracked the environmental impact of the high-tech industry since 1982. It's the group's fifth scorecard, and it shows that the industry is becoming more—not less—opaque when it comes to the sustainability of its manufacturing practices.

That being said, I am a fan of solar photovoltaic energy. Not as a fossil fuel replacement though since that would require covering the earth with them , but as a means of bringing electricity to remote areas where not a lot is needed. I have played with them since the late sixties and was fascinated. I used to tell my kids in the eighties, early nineties to cover them up on calculators when they're done so that they don't run down the sun.

Anyway, any production of electricity on a large scale is going to have drawbacks. It's the way the current creation in a fallen state, works.

Right now the big "green energy" push (I have lots of reasons to believe this) is more about the forming of a one world order; i.e. the governors must have control over energy resources. This free market thing will never do as it allows for freedom of peoples.

It's weird in a strange way, as it is probably one of the "normal" things for mankind. One industry is closing because others have risen up. GM closing it's plant up here??? Apparently they built carriages before GM converted it into a automobile plant. The "new world" is "poor developing countries"
But it doesn't make it easier.
