The Week Israelis Felt Invincible

An unfamiliar surrealistic atmosphere prevailed this week in Israel. Many felt it but didn't quite know how to define it. It was a pleasant, sort of ticklish feeling, but at the same time false and deceptive, of our being a superpower with tremendous force and unlimited abilities.

Some likened it to the frame of mind that seized the country following the Six-Day War, in the run-up to the Yom Kippur debacle. We are invincible. Who can touch us? They're deterred, frightened and will think very carefully before messing with us.

I saw that earlier today and read a few more articles to understand what he said. As best as I can tell he said something along the lines of "after Ramadan"...."within a few months.". (After Ramadan would be out of respect for Ramadan)

What has me pondering is why. Why are they waiting. The articles quoting the five WH sources(AP), and the Greenblatt articles(Israeli media interview) seem to indicate the text is done. In fact it has been shared with allies. (And no one is complaining)

In the Greenblatt articles he then goes on to say there is more talking and listening they need to do. But for Greenblatt that is pretty standard, he always says that one. His standard answer.

It almost sounds like they want to release it. Whatever it is they are waiting for could be what decides the actual date?????

I have wondered if they are waiting to see if Abbas goes...he has had health issues. Not sure who will replace him or what their stand will be. It is a given where Abbas stands.
