Readout of President Donald J. Trump's Call with President Emmanuel Macron of France
President Donald J. Trump spoke yesterday with President Emmanuel Macron of France about the President's decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. President Trump underscored that his decision is necessary and appropriate to protect national security. Both Presidents discussed alternative ways to address United States concerns. The two leaders also conferred about President Trump's intention to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to ensure the complete and permanent denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Both Presidents sharply condemned the Assad regime, and its Russian and Iranian sponsors, for the atrocities it has committed, including the bombing in East Ghouta.
I was going to say, if France knows that these things are in Syria, why will they/world not do something now to get rid of them? Why wait until after someone is killed? A lot of someones? That is like a current issue in various countries right now with schools and killing sprees for example. Rather than having armed/trained people in both stopping deadly force as well as able to pick out a potential use of deadly force embedded there, they decide to call the police as the only option. You do not call the police until AFTER something happens. They have armed security in malls, jewelry stores, at sporting events, concerts, federal buildings, school board meeting rooms (huh??) patrolling the streets of celebrity neighborhoods (just outside the WALLS around their properties) .. everywhere .. almost ... there is armed security on hand. But not in the schools. I guess it is good enough to call the police if it is just students being shot??
Same with certain nations. Some have chemical weapons and are known to be troublemakers. Call the police? (nations with an ability to do something about it that otherwise will not bother people) N. Korea, Syria .. others. They need to know that there will be consequences; real consequences, not just a boycott, if they do not verifiably get rid of that stuff. It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall when Trump meets with N. Korean leadership.

True Andy and Lewis. Hopefully though Lewis, there would be a better way to eliminate them than blowing them up. Yikes.

"Obviously, it would probably be in coordination with the Americans," he said. "France can act independently, but there is solidarity in acting with a strategic ally, and one with the same vision of the situation in Syria and the crossing of these red lines."
