Palestinians See Kushner s Upcoming Middle East Visit as Crucial, D.C. Envoy Says

If correct, the meetings next week should be very telling.

After a lengthy period in which the Americans mostly listened to the positions of both the Israelis and the Palestinians without disclosing their plans for the region, the Palestinian Authority now expects to hear what the Trump administration vision for peace was.
Zomlot met with Greenblatt on Tuesday at the White House, where they discussed the upcoming visit. During the meeting, Zomlot presented the Palestinian position on a number of key issues, including the settlements, Jerusalem and the refugees. A statement issued by the PLO delegation in Washington said that Zomlot reaffirmed the full readiness of the Palestinian leadership to support President Trump's efforts to reach a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli issue.

    and Syria is claiming....

Assad Advisor Says Syria War Nearing Its End

An advisor to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said the six-year war is nearly over as foreign states cut backing for rebels, and vowed the government would confront any illegitimate forces, whether Turkish or American. Bouthaina Shaaban said the fact that Syria was staging the Damascus International Fair for the first time in the war sends a message that the war has ended ... and we are at the start of the path towards reconstruction.
With the help of Russian air power and Iran-backed militias, Damascus has shored up its rule over much of the country s populated west. Now, it is marching eastward towards the Deir al-Zor region near the Iraqi border.

Netanyahu to meet with Putin in Russia this week

The two set the meeting to discuss the latest developments in the region, it said, adding that it must be noted that in the last two years Prime Minister Netanyahu has met with President Putin every few months to discuss bilateral and regional issues with the intention of preventing any clashes between Israeli and Russian air forces in Syria, with success until now.
In April, Moscow summoned Israel s ambassador to Russia, Gary Koren, to protest a reported Israeli strike that nearly hit Russian troops stationed in the area. Syria s ambassador to the UN later said that Russia had changed its policy and no longer grants Israel freedom of action over Syrian skies.

Arab foreign ministers welcome US Mideast mediation

On Saturday, the ministers said in a joint statement they appreciated the American role to achieve peace between the Israelis and Palestinians.

They look forward to the US administration intensifying its efforts in the coming period.
Last week, a White House official told the Times of Israel that Trump believes an opportunity has opened up to advance his peace initiative and was sending senior administration officials to the region in the coming days.
The decision to send the delegation was made after consultations with a cohort of the president s top advisers, including newly installed Chief of Staff John Kelly, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster and US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.
They are also instructed to discuss strengthening our relations with regional partners and the economic steps that can be taken both now and after a peace deal is signed to ensure security, stability and prosperity for the region, the official added.

Palestinian leader says Trump administration in chaos
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas says he has met with officials from US President Donald Trump s administration over 20 times since his election in November 2016.
Each time they reiterate their commitment to a two-state solution and the stop to settlement building, Abbas says. I urge them to tell Netanyahu that, but they are deterred.
I don t even know how they are dealing with us, because his entire administration is in chaos, he adds.

'Grave concern' in Israel in light of US positions on Syria

Israeli defense officials are concerned after a high ranked delegation sent to Washington failed to secure a promise from the Americans that any agreement to end the war in Syria includes the evacuation of Iran and Hezbollah forces from the country. Now, Israel turns its hopes to the Kremlin.

US President Donald Trump s senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner was set to arrive in Israel on Wednesday night with a US peace delegation, after quietly meeting with leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
They were to hold meetings in Israel on Thursday, according to the report.

While everyone was busy gazing into the solar eclipse on Monday, White House adviser Jared Kushner quietly snuck away to the Middle East for a trip that will take him to the Persian Gulf and Israel.

Apparently they left Sunday and will be meeting with the Arab leaders until Wednesday night. Meetings begin in Israel Thursday.

Netanyahu to warn Putin not to cross red lines

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu s primary objective during his upcoming talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be to try to convince the Russians to prevent an Iranian permanent presence in Syria, but rather to let them know what Israel plans to do if Tehran tries to set up such a presence, former National Security Council Advisor Yaakov Amidror said on Tuesday.

This week could be very interesting...but I wonder how much we will hear, and how long it will take to leak out. Most likely it will be the Palestinian response that could be the tell.

                  A side note to consider?????

Pres. Trump's recent decision on Afghanistan. He will need cooperation from Russia???

Three countries undermining Afghanistan progress that President Trump didn t call out

                  Russia

Since April, not long after he declared America s longest war a stalemate, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Nicholson, has voiced concern about Moscow s apparent effort to arm the Taliban. Those weapons include medium and heavy machine guns, officials have said, used to cut down Afghan troops in multiple southern provinces, including areas where U.S. military advisers and Special Operations forces are deployed.
U.S. officials have said that any country shipping weapons into Afghanistan would be in violation of international law. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis vowed to engage the Russians through diplomatic channels, hopeful that doing so would encourage them to halt their alleged meddling.

Russia has denied working with the Taliban, saying its interactions with the fundamentalist group that once ruled Afghanistan have been focused on encouraging it to make peace. Video published by CNN in July appears to contradict that.
The other two countries Iran and China

                  https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.fa25acbe41d5

Afghanistan is fracturing, creating a vacuum that Russia and Iran are filling
Russia and Iran are happily filling Afghanistan s political and military vacuum. Just as they did in Syria

                  https://wedg.millenniumweekend.o...et-tehran-fill

He also needs their cooperation on NK, etc etc

We are a partner and a friend, but we will not dictate to the Afghan people how to live or how to govern their own complex society. We are not nation-building again. We are killing terrorists.
                  https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/21/w...ghanistan.html

From what I understand the elite based their "conform theory" on two ideas. If they don't there was a very real possibility they will just slip back into the foundations that evolved into the terrorist problem we have today...also not changing it will empower Russia and Iran even more.

(Even Cuba and others are attempting to revert back in our own backyard as they see Russia growing stronger)

A bigger threat to everyone, as the Russian Eurasian Union grows and empowering other countries around them to not conform....China

                  ???
U.S. sanctions Chinese and Russian companies and individuals for conducting business with North Korea

                  ????

Netanyahu meets Kushner as part of US peace push

Kushner told Netanyahu that Trump is very committed to help broker a peace deal and thanked the prime minister for working with the White House toward that goal.

The president is very committed to achieving a solution here that will be able to bring prosperity and peace to all people in this area, he said. We really appreciate the commitment of the prime minister and his team to engaging very thoughtfully and respectfully in the way that the president has asked him to do so.

Putting skepticism on hold, Abbas backs US peace push in Kushner meeting
Meeting with Kushner and other US officials in Ramallah, Abbas expressed optimism that a deal could be reached, despite complaints from the PA in recent days over a lack of seriousness from the White House in its efforts to broker an elusive agreement.
We know that the this issue is difficult and complex, but nothing is impossible in the face of good efforts, Abbas said during the parley with Kushner, according to official PA news outlet Wafa.
We affirm that this delegation is working toward peace, and we are working with it to achieve soon what Trump called the peace deal, Abbas said.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday met with US presidential adviser Jared Kushner and told him that Palestinians highly appreciate the efforts of President Trump, who announced from the outset that he will work on a historic peace deal.
Kushner meanwhile said that President Trump is very optimistic and hopes for a better future for the Palestinian people and the Israeli people.

Netanyahu goes to Russia, and leaves empty-handed

After having failed to persuade the US leadership to serve Israel s Israel s interests in Syria, the Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu turned his attention this week to the Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Though the Russian president did not directly address Netanyahu s remarks, his silence was much more eloquent. Russia listens and takes into account the positions of the players, but moves according its own interests, especially now when its stock is so high. The Syrian conflict has mostly ended, and in the way Moscow expected it to. Russia will now play a key role in determining Syria s future.
