The great theologian Wiki shared that: The phrase ..." like a thief in the night", is a Biblical metaphor for unpredictability...
From my perspective,
in the context of Rosh Hashona, no one knows which night the first sliver of the moon would be seen, so the moon comes like a thief
its also a type of the young man coming to take away his bride "as a thief in the night""... at an unknown time...
does not mean of course that Jesus will or MUST come on a future Rosh Hashona ......
