The End of MWM

Greetings all,

Letting everyone know that after somewhere around 28 years, when our annual hosting expires on 08/24/2025, Millennium Weekend Ministries we will not be renewing. Lack of interest for the past many years makes it clear to Esther and me that it does not make any sense to continue to keep the site running.

Many thanks to the handful of folks that have stuck it out with us. Perhaps very soon we shall all meet when we hear the glorious voice of our Savior calling us home to the Father's house. Certainly any who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation, repenting with a "broken and contrite heart" (Ps 34:18 and 51:17) will find mercy and will indeed be caught up together to meet our Savior in the air.

What a glorious day that will be.

In Christ alone,
Andy

        UN Envoy to Middle East: Peace with Arab states can't come first

        In a conversation with reporters, Mladenov said that It is impossible to skip over the heads of the Palestinians and work for peace only with the Arab states.

        He added that, in his opinion, confidence-building measures should be taken to allow the sides to enter talks and deal with the core of the conflict.

        On Thursday, he will attend a first meeting of the Middle East Quartet with US special envoy to the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt.
        The situation in Gaza will eventually reach Israel's doorstep, and we feel a serious deterioration in the humanitarian situation there in the last three months.

            A reminder from Israel..

            Iran, With Russian Help, Threatens Israel From Syria

            With the help of its powerful allies, President Bashar al Assad regime is gradually consolidating its grip over parts of Syria. The six-year Syrian conflict has long ceased being a civil war, and Assad is no independent actor; rather, he is now part of an Iranian-led regional coalition.

            Assad recent victories are setting the stage for the continued spread of his steadfast backer, Iran, and its network of heavily armed Shia proxies.
            The Iranians have obtained an outpost in this area, he said, explaining that the Islamic Republic is using forces such as Hezbollah, Shia Iraqis and foreign Shia legions from across the Muslim world so that the price is less painful for Iran.

                Trump likely to say Iran complying with nuclear deal: U.S. official

                U.S. President Donald Trump is very likely to state that Iran is adhering to its nuclear agreement although he continues to have reservations about it, a senior U.S. official said on Thursday.

                Under U.S. law, the State Department must notify Congress every 90 days of Iran compliance with the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Trump has a congressionally mandated deadline of Monday to decide.

                The landmark 2015 deal struck with Iran by the United States, France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany is aimed at preventing Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon by imposing time-limited restrictions and strict international monitoring on its nuclear program. In return, Tehran won relief from punishing international economic sanctions.

                  Russia wants more of its allies to join the fight in Syria
                  Russia is pushing its allies to join the fight in Syria in hopes of broadening its influence in the Middle East, Uran Botobekov wrote in a Jamestown Foundation report.
                  "Shamanov statement seems to indicate that Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to expand the number of allied governments active in Syria that would support Moscow military actions there," Botobekov writes.

                  U.S. says Russia willing to deploy monitors for Syria ceasefire

                  Russia has said it is willing to deploy monitors to prevent any violations of a ceasefire in southwestern Syria by Syrian government forces, a senior U.S. official said on Thursday.

                  Brett McGurk, U.S. special envoy for the coalition against Islamic State, said the United States was "very encouraged" by the progress since the ceasefire arranged by the United States, Russia and Jordan took effect on Sunday.

                  "The Russians have made clear they're very serious about this and willing to put some of their people on the ground to help monitor from the regime side," McGurk told reporters. "They do not want the regime violating the ceasefire."

                  Russia is the main backer of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and Russian air power and Iranian-backed militias have helped put mostly Sunni rebels at a disadvantage over the past year.

                      Big side note and no it isn't the obvious Isaiah 17

                      Isaiah 19New International Version (NIV) A Prophecy Against Egypt

                      19 A prophecy against Egypt:

                      See, the Lord rides on a swift cloud
                      and is coming to Egypt.
                      The idols of Egypt tremble before him,
                      and the hearts of the Egyptians melt with fear.

                      2 I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian
                      brother will fight against brother,
                      neighbor against neighbor,
                      city against city,
                      kingdom against kingdom.
                      3 The Egyptians will lose heart,
                      and I will bring their plans to nothing;
                      they will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead,
                      the mediums and the spiritists.
                      4 I will hand the Egyptians over
                      to the power of a cruel master,
                      and a fierce king will rule over them,
                      declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.

                      5 The waters of the river will dry up,
                      and the riverbed will be parched and dry.
                      6 The canals will stink;
                      the streams of Egypt will dwindle and dry up.
                      The reeds and rushes will wither,
                      7 also the plants along the Nile,
                      at the mouth of the river.
                      Every sown field along the Nile
                      will become parched, will blow away and be no more.
                      8 The fishermen will groan and lament,
                      all who cast hooks into the Nile;
                      those who throw nets on the water
                      will pine away.
                      9 Those who work with combed flax will despair,
                      the weavers of fine linen will lose hope.
                      10 The workers in cloth will be dejected,
                      and all the wage earners will be sick at heart.

                      11 The officials of Zoan are nothing but fools;
                      the wise counselors of Pharaoh give senseless advice.
                      How can you say to Pharaoh,
                      I am one of the wise men,
                      a disciple of the ancient kings?

                      12 Where are your wise men now?
                      Let them show you and make known
                      what the Lord Almighty
                      has planned against Egypt.
                      13 The officials of Zoan have become fools,
                      the leaders of Memphis are deceived;
                      the cornerstones of her peoples
                      have led Egypt astray.
                      14 The Lord has poured into them
                      a spirit of dizziness;
                      they make Egypt stagger in all that she does,
                      as a drunkard staggers around in his vomit.
                      15 There is nothing Egypt can do
                      head or tail, palm branch or reed.

                      16 In that day the Egyptians will become weaklings. They will shudder with fear at the uplifted hand that the Lord Almighty raises against them. 17 And the land of Judah will bring terror to the Egyptians; everyone to whom Judah is mentioned will be terrified, because of what the Lord Almighty is planning against them.

                      18 In that day five cities in Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the Lord Almighty. One of them will be called the City of the Sun.[a]

                      19 In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the heart of Egypt, and a monument to the Lord at its border. 20 It will be a sign and witness to the Lord Almighty in the land of Egypt. When they cry out to the Lord because of their oppressors, he will send them a savior and defender, and he will rescue them. 21 So the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge the Lord. They will worship with sacrifices and grain offerings; they will make vows to the Lord and keep them. 22 The Lord will strike Egypt with a plague; he will strike them and heal them. They will turn to the Lord, and he will respond to their pleas and heal them.

                      23In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. 24 In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing[b] on the earth. 25 The Lord Almighty will bless them, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.

                      Assyrian people

                      The areas that form the Assyrian homeland are parts of present-day northern Iraq, southeastern Turkey, northwestern Iran and northeastern Syria.[40][41] The majority have migrated to other regions of the world, including North America, the Levant, Australia, Europe, Russia and the Caucasus during the past century or so.[42]Emigration was triggered by such events as the Assyrian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire during World War I, the Simele Massacre in Iraq in 1933, the Iranian Revolution of 1979, Arab Nationalist Ba'athist policies in Iraq and Syria such as the al-Anfal campaign of Saddam Hussein, and the rise of ISIS and its takeover of most of the Nineveh Plains.[43][44]

                      Assyrians are predominantly Christian, mostly adhering to the East and West Syrian liturgical rites of Christianity.[45] The churches that constitute the East Syrian rite include the Assyrian Church of the East, Ancient Church of the East, and Chaldean Catholic Church, whose followers mostly speak the Northeastern branch of East Aramaic. Whereas the churches of the West Syrian rite, the Syriac Orthodox Church and Syriac Catholic Church, mostly speak the Central branch.

                            Russian troops for Quneitra in defiance of Israel

                            Quneitra is just 5km from Israel border and the line of IDF positions defending it.
                            Israel has notified Washington and Moscow that it is flatly opposed to the presence of a Russian unit on its border. However, the US and Russian officers coordinating the ceasefire implementation agreed to recommend going forward with the Russian deployment. The White House and the Kremlin gave the officers recommendation the green light, virtually imposing it on Israel against its will.

                            Their argument is that the first ceasefire zone that was established last week in the Daraa front on the Jordanian border will quickly break down if it is not shored up by a second zone at Quneitra.

                            But the two zones differ in major respects, our military and intelligence sources emphasize.
                            The understandings drawn up for Daraa between the US, Russia and Jordan, included a clause explicitly providing for the withdrawal of Iranian and pro-Iranian forces, including Hizballah, to a point 40km west or north of the demilitarized town.
                            This clause never stood up for one moment.
