China, Germany Step Up as U.S. Retires From World Leadership

The U.S. traditionally takes point in the search for common approaches to the big global issues of the day at G-20 summits. Not this time.

When world leaders meet in Hamburg on Friday, China and Germany will move in to usurp the U.S. role.

I have read a few articles stating the above, but with the rise of the Trump admin Kissinger and the elite etc have been attempting to firmly take it back...with a few tweaks.

Mattis accuses Putin of mischief, reaffirms US commitment to NATO

Kissinger said that the idea of global leadership is almost part of the American foreign policy DNA, adding that the US has positioned itself not simply as a leader, but as the leader.
But on the other side of the world Russia and China have also been working but that friendship could never be sustained long enough to take over. But it isn't stopping everyone from trying.

Russia and China urge freeze on N Korea missile tests

Russia and China have agreed on the need for a simultaneous freezing of North Korea's missile and nuclear programme and large-scale military exercises by the United States and South Korea, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

Mr Putin made his comments after holding talks with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Kremlin.

Both countries also called on the US to immediately halt its deployment of its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile shield, which they said is harmful for regional security.

Trump has agreed to hold a full-fledged bilateral meeting with Putin on Friday, White House says

President Trump will sit down for an extended meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday on the sidelines of a major economic conference in Germany, a White House official said Tuesday.
The label implies a longer and more formal meeting than the brief conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel that Trump also has on his schedule for Friday, as well as other "pull aside" meetings with the leaders of Mexico, Japan and several other countries that day.

Spies Fear Trump First Meeting With Putin

Kremlin thinks Putin will eat Trump lunch at the G-20 summit, European intelligence agencies have learned.
Moscow believes its leader, ex-spy master Vladimir Putin, can extract major concessions from President Donald Trump when the two meet for the first time next week, European officials tell The Daily Beast.
The officials say their intelligence indicates Putin thinks he can outmaneuver Trump at the G-20 summit, playing on promises of cooperation on areas like counterterrorism to win concessions like a reduction in the raft of sanctions against Russia.

PS Daily Beast isn't the first place to report this. It has popped up before. A few months ago one article hinted it was one of the reasons Putin wanted Trump. The chatter was better with Trump then Clinton.

        The reminder...
The "new Yalta" would redistribute spheres of responsibility to recognised great powers. The Kremlin, of course, sees Russia as one of them (alongside with the US, China, and perhaps Europe).

              From the above

Donald Trump's Poland visit sparks fears of widening divisions in Europe

Poland ruling rightwing Law and Justice party (PiS) has struggled to contain its excitement since the visit was announced last month. The defence minister, Antoni Macierewicz, said it showed how much Poland place in geopolitics and world politics has changed.

But there is unease in Brussels and other European capitals that Trump visit will be seen as an endorsement - tacit or otherwise - of a government which has repeatedly clashed with EU institutions over its assault on independent democratic institutions
              About the party
The party programme is dominated by the Kaczynskis conservative and law and order agenda.[25] It has embraced economic interventionism, while maintaining a socially conservative stance that in 2005 moved towards the Catholic Church;[25] the partys Catholic-nationalist wing split off in 2011 to form Solidary Poland. The party is solidarist and mildly Eurosceptic.
              Ideology

Initially the party was broadly pro-market, although less so than the Civic Platform.[34] It has adopted the social market economy rhetoric similar to that of western European Christian democratic parties.[25] In the 2005 election, the party shifted to the protectionist left on economics.[34] As Prime Minister, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz was more economically liberal than the Kaczynskis, advocating a position closer to Civic Platform.[35] However, unlike Civic Platform, whose emphasis is the economy, Law and Justices focus is fighting corruption.[34]
On foreign policy, PiS is Atlanticist and less supportive of European integration than Civic Platform.[34] The party is soft eurosceptic,[12][13] and opposes a federal Europe. In its campaigns, it emphasises that the European Union should 'benefit Poland and not the other way around'.[36] It is a member of the anti-federalist Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists, having previously been a part of the Alliance for Europe of the Nations and, before that, the European People's Party.[25][37]

The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

Analysis: America risks losing its voice as trade ties strengthen between EU and Japan

In the master plan advanced by President Donald Trump, an aggressive United States is supposed to reclaim its rightful perch as the center of the commercial universe, wielding its economic dominance to dictate the rules of global trade.
As it turns out, the rest of the planet has its own ideas.

Japan, EU seal free trade in signal to Trump

Japan and the European Union agreed a free trade pact on Thursday to create the worlds biggest open economic area and signal resistance to what they see as U.S. President Donald Trumps protectionist turn.

G20 communique agreed apart from climate issue: EU officials
We have a G20 communique, not a G19 communique, he added.

The section that needs to be resolved by the leaders relates to the U.S. insistence that there be a reference to fossil fuels, the official said.
World leaders meeting for a summit in Germany have agreed every aspect of a joint statement apart from the section on climate where the United States is pushing for a reference to fossil fuels, European Union officials said on Saturday.
The officials said aides had worked until 2 a.m. to finalize a communique for the Group of 20, overcoming differences on trade after U.S. officials agreed to language on fighting protectionism.

I had to add this one.

Trump says of Trudeau: Justin is doing a spectacular job

The U.S. President heaped praise on Mr. Trudeau during an event marking the establishment of a $200-million fund managed by the World Bank to help female entrepreneurs. Mr. Trudeau announced on Saturday that Canada is contributing $20-million to the program.

We have a great neighbour in Canada and Justin is doing a spectacular job in Canada, Mr. Trump said as he began his remarks. Everybody loves him and they love him for a reason. So congratulations on the job you are doing.

Pres. Trump must be starting to fit in just fine.

For those who may not know PM Trudeau is liberal and very owo.

Putin: Trump different in real life than on TV, we can restore relations with US

As for personal relations, I think that they are established, Putin said of his meeting with Trump.

I think that if we continue building our relations like during our conversation yesterday, there are grounds to believe that we ll be able to at least partially restore the level of cooperation that we need, Putin said.

Moscow Upbeat About Putin-Trump Meeting at G20

In stark contrast to the cool reaction from American media, most Russian politicians and experts gushed about Friday's meeting between presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany.

Franz Klintsevich, deputy chairman of the Federation Councils Committee for Defense and Security, called the Putin-Trump meeting a serious step forward, and said that progress had been made on Syria, Ukraine and cyber security. The Federation Council is the upper house of Russias legislature.

The meeting achieved its main objective it opened the totally closed door of Russian-American relations, and removed all questions about the ability of the two leaders to get along, Klintsevich told the state-run TASS news agency.

Konstantin Kosachev, head of the Federation Councils International Affairs Committee, said the meeting was a breakthrough, both practically and psychologically.

I must admit that the results of the meeting of the Russian and U.S. presidents exceeded my expectations, and not only mine, said Kosachev.
[Foreign Minister Sergei] Lavrov opinion is very significant that both presidents are focused not on conflict, but on achieving mutually beneficial cooperation.

At G20 summit, Trump pledges $639 million in aid to four countries
Trumps pledge came during a working session of the G20 summit of world leaders in Hamburg, providing a godsend to the United Nations World Food Programme, the groups executive director, David Beasley, told Reuters on the sidelines of the meeting.
The new funding brings to over $1.8 billion aid promised by the United States for fiscal year 2017 for the crises in the four countries, where the United Nations has estimated more than 30 million people need urgent food assistance.
