  • Israel Successfully Test-Fires Magic Wand

    Successor to Iron Dome Interceptor

The interceptor, also known as David's Sling, was jointly developed by Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and the United States' Raytheon.

The article I read a few minutes ago said Iron Dome had a 90% success rate.

    Impressive!

I'd like to see that article, brother (if it was online), because the percentages I read when it was happening were far less.

Yeah, I thought it was more in the 40's, 50% at best?

David’s Sling uses technology similar to that of the Iron Dome system, which Israel says had a 90 percent success rate, intercepting 421 of the rockets fired from Gaza in eight days of fighting that ended in a ceasefire on Wednesday.
          http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/11...-davids-sling/

From what I've read Iron Dome only attempted to shoot down the ones that were considered a risk which made it seem like the rate was lower. The ones that would only land in open fields it lets go.

We know they sent a whole lot more that only landed in fields.

percentages....... they only tried to intercept missles that were going to hit in a city in a populated area...... the other ones they allowed to land.......

I think I found the apparent discrepancy.

                http://www.bostonherald.com/news/opi...domes_lessons/

Iron Dome has intercepted hundreds of the new, longer-range Iranian rockets fired by Hamas, a success rate of 80 percent to 90 percent — and Iron Dome does not launch if its automated calculations show that the incoming rocket will miss populated areas
                (emphasis mine)

So where I heard the Hamas fired some 1500 and Israel only intercepted around 400 it wasn't a failure on the part of the Iron Dome system - it was the fact they didn't try to shoot down rockets that were going to fall harmlessly to the ground.

That helps - I was really confused.

Makes me feel better about Israel's capability to defend itself, too.

Although we know that God is in control of Israel's defense.

                    Yeah, me too, brother.
One thing I'm sure we've all wondered is what would happen if Syria, Lebanon and Gaza were to unleash a massive volley all at once.

We know God defends Israel for most of her upcoming battles - all the way to the end. He also does so in ways that eventually it opens their eyes to Who it is that's actually protecting them - right now, in their unbelief, they believe their superior technology/IDF/IAF/weaponry is their savior.

                    One day this will change.

At some point, I suspect that Israel would invoke the Samson option. That is said, of course, from a purely political/human standpoint - I don't see God letting things go that far... But that's the secular answer to your question, IMHO.

I liken this to the times Wiley Coyote would light a rocket, and it would blow up with him standing there.
What amazes me, is why all these countries would fire on land they want.
So you are fighting over a patch of land that would be dessimated, if your plans worked out? Then there wouldn't be any land to claim.
Of course it's not about the land as we know, it's about the Jews, and the hatred of them.
If only the news media got that...

Listened to Avi Lipkin last night on Crosstalk. He is so informed on all that is happening over there. Lots of good information. He thinks O will be part of taking Iran out but he said likely O would do so through the back door. Then I saw an article that they are decreasing the Marines by 20%. I guess will just keep on keeping on. So much so fast now.

I really like the names that Israel chooses, David's Sling..good one!

Good point Gregg..it is a big confirmation that it's not about the land but the people..their hatred of Jews. That is a lot of hate. Only God can stop them..and He will!
