last night it was said on the alphabet news that the new moslem constitution was passed by the legislature and awaits morsi's signature and then the voting.........

this constitution reportedly excludes the secular and Christian people --
if the radical moslems are indeed a majority in egypt,
this will lead to an Iran style moslem govt .... fullfilling prophecy .....

Egyptian opposition figure Mohamed ElBaradei said on Saturday the "struggle will continue" after President Mohamed Mursi called a December 15 referendum on a draft constitution.

"(Mursi) put to referendum a draft constitution that undermines basic freedoms and violates universal values. The struggle will continue," ElBaradei said on his Twitter feed.

Former aide to Egypt leader joins opposition front

A top aide to Egypt's President Mohamed Mursi, who quit when the leader issued a decree expanding his powers, has joined the country's biggest opposition movement, a senior opposition figure said on Friday.

Samir Morkos was Mursi's adviser on the transition to democracy and the only Christian in the Islamist leader's team.

He is one of at least two presidential advisers to have stepped down since Mursi issued the decree on November 22 that made his decisions immune to legal challenge

I had to post this AP article. The first three paragraphs are a must read.
In Morsi's mosque today, and with him present, the cleric sided with the Brotherhood. The congregants in the mosque made it very clear they didn't agree and Morsi had to get up to try and calm them.

Eleven Egyptian newspapers plan not to publish on Tuesday in protest at Mursi's decree, one reported. Al-Masry Al-Youm also said three privately owned satellite channels would not broadcast on Wednesday in protest.

ElBaradei: Fear growing over possible Islamist constitution

There is growing concern in Egypt that the Muslim Brotherhood will draft a new constitution with "Islamist undertones," Egyptian opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei told Germany's Der Spiegel in an interview published Monday.

"We all fear that the Brotherhood will pass a document with Islamist undertones that marginalizes the rights of women and religious minorities," the Nobel laureate stated.

Egypt's justice minister seeks to end rift with judges

Egyptian Justice Minister Ahmed Mekky has started mediation efforts to try to end a crisis between Egypt's executive and judicial authorities, state TV reported on Sunday.

It was the first public sign of a government attempt to resolve a crisis ignited by Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi's decision to expand his powers and protect his decisions from judicial review.

Mekky, who has said he has "some reservations" about Morsi's decree, convened a meeting at the Supreme Court headquarters in Cairo, state TV reported, without giving further details.

I have to think there's no way he would have made such a move if he didn't think he had enough military backing to hold onto power. Is he really read for another "Arab Spring" (which we know was mostly the Brotherhood to begin with)? Does the 'other side' of this have enough backing to really challenge the Egyptian Brotherhood?

This could get really interesting (like so many other events in our news).
