Did Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu feel threatened by his longtime rival? Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz has hinted that Netanyahu's decision to merge the Likud with Yisrael Beiteinu was based on his fear of a union in the leftist-centrist bloc under President Shimon Peres' leadership.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin will meet his Israeli counterpart Shimon Peres on November 8 in Moscow, the Kremlin press service told Thursday.
Shimon Peres will come to the Russian capital at Putin’s invitation.

The top officials will reportedly discuss issues of bilateral interaction, share their opinions for most important regional problems, which are the situations in the Middle East and Northern Africa, and prospects of resumed negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

It would seem Israel's political system is being changed.

Interesting. If I remember correctly, when George Bush was president there were articles stating the US had told Israel they would need to change their system.

        PS
Canada at one point was trying to change our system so elections could only be held every four years under the excuse of being more stable. I wonder if that will be next in Israel and revived in Canada?????
