  • Katrina Takes a Toll on Truth, News Accuracy

I wonder if the press needs to be investigated?? How much of the problem did they create by shoddy, unsubstantiated and false information?

It certainly begs the question - how do we possibly avoid deception in this world when absolutely everything the media says must now be questioned? People who are never taught that it is wrong to lie, tell lies without guilt. As long as it is not discovered, the lie remains and becomes "truth" to those who hear it. Reality and myth (outright lies) becomes so blurred that even those who desire and search for truth cannot find it. Just imagine that old school game where a sentence is whispered from person to person until it is repeated out loud, only to discover it no longer resembled the original sentence, only this time, it's a lie from the start. How far from the truth do you think it will end up? And as old Hiltler once said, if you tell a lie long enough and loud enough, people will believe it. And the more outlandish the lie, the more likely it will be believed. Why, who would ever say such a thing if it were not true?!?! Perhaps the lying liars who lie? These days, the ten commandments are considered far too wicked to display in public, we shouldn't be surprised when everything they speak against is no longer too wicked to do in public.

No wonder Jesus said again and again, "Don't be deceived!"

SandyLion - the school "telephone game" analogy crossed my mind as I posted the original article. An important lesson we can teach all our children is to think critically and challenge what they see in the press...to learn to ask the right kind of questions. It makes me even wonder whether some of the misreporting was done on purpose...to make the news instead of reporting it!!
