  • witnessed to a shrink today

A very nice shrink lady called from the VA hospital today about how I was handeling the news of my ""imminent demise"" ..... I got to witness to her
for a while about how for a Christian its going home to Jesus...... shared the old story how preacher John R Rice was preaching aganist alcohol and gamboling in 1930's Chicago and how a gangster put a gun in his stomach and said ""if you dont stop preaching against booze and gamboling, I'm gonna shoot you""..
....... Reportedly, Pastor Rise responded "" Preaise Jesus !! I get to go to heaven today"" The gangster almost dropped his gun........

So I told the lady that the is the worst thing a Christian faces is we get to go home to Jesus......... I could hear her shaking her head over the phone even ..... the world just doesnt understand ,,,,,, I think my doctors are the same way.........We HAVE that blessed hope ...

      Great testimony Lewis.

      Issachar
The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken - dylan

Psalms 122:8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

Very comforting, Lewis. You can use whatever time GOD gives you to His glory! That will be the best testimony of all! Praise God!

Re: witnessed to a shrink today

What a blessing it is to watch intently for the Lord's coming. We draw nigh unto Him and He draws nigh unto us. We put our treasure in watching and longing for our Bridegroom and there is where our hearts are and He treats us as His friends and puts eternity in our hearts.

We know now is the time to do everything out of love because we will stand before the Bema seat and what little time we have left will count for all eternity.

What a blessing, Lewis, that God gave you the opportunity to witness for Him.

Re: witnessed to a shrink today

My friend Gwen, has been diagnosed with cancer 3 times in the last 8 years. She has witnessed all the way through every step of the way. She did not die of renal cancer, there is no sign of it in her body. She did not die of pancreatic cancer, there is no sign of it either. The spots on her liver are fewer and shrinking. She continues to witness to God's healing and saving grace every time she heads to Miami to the major cancer center. All of her doctors stand amazed. She prays with other patients. God is using what Satan meant for her destruction in a powerful and mighty way. He can and will use you in that way Lewis. Continuing in prayer for you.

Re: witnessed to a shrink today

I had a very dear friend that died of cancer. All the way through his 5-year ordeal he was a very loud witness for Jesus. Every nurse, every orderly, every doctor was amazed at his sweet, upbeat, NEVER complaining attitude. He was an incredible evangelist for Jesus. He's been gone, now, for 5 years and I've so often thought about the incredible greeting he must have received. "WELL DONE!"

I still miss him often when I think about him. He was the most selfless person I have ever known...I really mean that. I'm not putting him on some pedistol because he's gone..that is a natural thing we humans do but not this time. He always amazed me at his selflessness. He'd call and always ask about my chronic pain and when I'd ask about his cancer pain he'd downplay it and go right back to what I'm dealing with. I couldn't get him to talk about himself..even on his deathbed.

What a man of God he was.

Thanks for letting me share a very meaningful recount of a dear friend who is now rejoicing in the presence of our Savior.

I only hope if I am ever in that situation that I will be able to continue to lift up the Name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, He is so dear to me.

Re: witnessed to a shrink today

I was listening to a radio show yesterday and the illustration was given that when a wife was told her husband had a diagnosis of cancer, she said--it was just a name and that the name of Jesus is above all names.

No matter what they tell you---you know whose name is above ALL names.

Praise the Lord, thank you Jesus for a strong witness and a joyful heart and for the promise of eternity for all of us. Eternity with peace, joy and Jesus!

                            Keep on preaching, Lewis!
