  • Today's Psalm so timely

    Psalm 12 (since today is the 12th)

    Save, O LORD, for the godly one is gone;
    for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.
    2 Everyone utters lies to his neighbor;
    with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
    3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips,
    the tongue that makes great boasts,
    4 those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail,
    our lips are with us; who is master over us?”
    5 “Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan,
    I will now arise,” says the LORD;
    “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”
    6 The words of the LORD are pure words,
    like silver refined in a furnace on the ground,
    purified seven times.
    7 You, O LORD, will keep them;
    you will guard us [fn2] from this generation forever.
    8 On every side the wicked prowl,
    as vileness is exalted among the children of man.

      You hit the nail on the head Michael with this whole Psalm ..

      5 “Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan,
      I will now arise,” says the LORD;
      “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”

      Much of this in the world right now ..

      Issachar
      The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

      Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

      I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken - dylan

      Psalms 122:8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

        Seven times ... it is perfect. Now, if only more "Christians" would live like they believe that. Of course we all fall short ... I'm talking about that those that would say His Word has flaws; i.e. can't be trusted. To them, I would say, go to another or start your own "religion."

        Yes, the LORD will keep them. He is perfectly faithful. In Him, we are guarded from this generation. Oh they may do harm, in one way or another, to that which they can see; i.e. the body, but they cannot harm that which is eternal; i.e. the new creation we are in Christ.

        Issachar, at peace, knowing this ..

          8 On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness is exalted among the children of man.

          It seems we have all noted something like this, somewhere ..

          Vileness in this world IS certainly enroute to being exalted. Note that it is not just the presence of vileness .. that's been since the fall some 6,000 years ago .. but it being exalted. That too has been present throughout, but on a global scale? Certainly seems to be the coming case these days.
