Iceland's Katla Volcano Monitored After Seismic Activity Increases
A surge of small earthquakes has been reported around Iceland's Katla volcano, but scientists said Tuesday there is no immediate concern that the increased seismic activity will trigger a dangerous eruption.
Although earthquakes around Katla are common, an increase in cluster earthquakes is not.
Geologists on Canary Islands commence study on El Hierro swarm of 6000 quakes
The Canary Islands Government says it has commenced an in-depth geological survey of El Hierro, the smallest of the islands, in an effort to determine the source of an earthquake swarm.
The Council of Hierro noted that there is no imminent threat to the residents of the sparsely populated island (10600 inhabitants), but refused to rule out an evacuation of island residents in the event of a heightened risk of a volcanic eruption.
Mount Tambora sees higher intensities of volcanic activities, increasing its status to the alert level 3 (Siaga). The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of West Nusa Tenggara prepares two evacuation routes to anticipate unexpected events in Pekat Subdistrict, Dompu Regency, and Tambora Subdistrict.

Wen this one blew in 1815, it caused 1816's "Year Without A Summer" in New England; there were actually snow flurries on July 4.
it makes you see just how powerful these thigns are, and how easily a few big ones blowing can really alter the climate even in the extreme ways we see in Revelation.

Wow thanks, I never heard of that before, "Year Without A Summer" in New England.
I'm sure there were many states, especially Texas, who would have loved snow in July this year.
"..largest eruption ever recorded — an 1815 event widely forgotten outside their region — killing 90,000 people and blackening skies on the other side of the globe. Aside from a few minor bursts in steam in the 1960s, the mountain has been quiet for much of the last 200 years. Temperatures worldwide plummetted, causing crops to fail and leading to massive starvation."
In 1815 farmers on the northeastern coast of the U.S. had snow well into July. Grape harvests were ruined, in France!
And we think our carbon footprints can compete with this on a global scale! God is chuckling at us like we do when our little kids try to do something that they think is big!
Rising Volcanic Activity Prompts Evacuations On El Hierro, The Canary Islands
Fears are growing that the El Hierro volcano in The Canary Islands could soon erupt after seismic activity beneath the island increased dramatically during Tuesday and Wednesday.
Over 150 earthquakes were recorded on the smallest of the Canary Islands during Tuesday prompting officials to evacuate some local residents, shut El Hierro’s main tunnel, and close local schools.
Wow, Debbie, very interesting that these tremors started in July after quiet since 1793. And they increased from 1 to 2 magnitude to greater than 3 the last 2 days (can we say ELININ?).
Miners used to take Canaries into the mines to signal pending doom! Could the Lord be using the Canary Islands to warn the world of pending doom?
