NASA’s Voyager 1 Spacecraft sends back data from the edge of our Solar System
Voyager scientists looking at this rapid rise draw closer to an inevitable but historic conclusion – that humanity’s first emissary to interstellar space is on the edge of our solar system.
Humanity escapes the solar system: Voyager 1 signals that it has reached the edge of interstellar space - 11billion miles away
The Voyager 1, built by Nasa and launched in 1977 has spent the last 35 years steadily increasing its distance from Earth, and is now now 17,970,000,000km - or 11,100,000,000miles - away, travelling at 10km a second.
Indications over the last week implies that Voyager 1 is now leaving the heliosphere - the last vestige of this solar system.
2012 LZ1 may not have been a danger, but much of the concern was rooted in the late warning of its detection - the asteroid was spotted only four days before closest approach.
One of the reasons for its late discovery is because it was detected in Southern Hemisphere skies, part of the world were we have few asteroid-watching programs. If it had been on a collision course with Earth, a few days notice is no time at all.
DARK HOLE IN THE SUN'S ATMOSPHERE: Ultraviolet telescopes onboard NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory are monitoring a vast dark hole--a "coronal hole"--in the sun's upper atmosphere. It has just turned directly toward Earth:

MASSIVE PROMINENCE: Amateur astronomers around the world are monitoring a massive, active prominence dancing along the sun's southeastern limb. http://www.spaceweather.com/
RED ALERT
We’ve lost comms with all satellites. (solar sat's)
Goddard is down but … Datacenter is on west coast for SDO ??? Something is up http://solarimg.org/
This is a very interesting video Jason did about how these solar flares are effecting or affecting (not sure which) the earth in causing the methane gas to be released into the oceans and causing fish to die, cause the mantle to heat up and cause the tectonic plates to shift and cause volcanos and the severe weather and flooding. It's an interesting watch.
Solar Flares/Biblical Flooding/Massive Earthquakes wreaking havoc across the World! (July 9, 2012)
X-FLARE! Big sunspot AR1520 unleashed an X1.4-class solar flare on July 12th at 1653 UT. Because this sunspot is directly facing Earth, everything about the blast was geoeffective. For one thing, it hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) directly toward our planet. According to a forecast track prepared by analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab, the CME will hit Earth on July 14th around 10:20 UT (+/- 7 hours) and could spark strong geomagnetic storms. http://www.spaceweather.com/
Dutch did an update about more solar storms coming.
7/12/2012 -- Solar Storm incoming + Severe weather and Earthquake update
Published on Jul 12, 2012 by dutchsinse
A large CME (coronal mass ejection).. earth directed.. will intersect earth within 2-3 days from today (July 12, 2012).. this could cause aurora to be produced further south than normal.. also could cause communications disruption, power grid failure.. possible larger scale earthquakes, and possibly intensify severe weather already forming.
Have a "power outage" plan read for the solar storm just in case.
Also.. be prepared for severe weather, and possible earthquake activity to increase over the next several days (into next week).
