Take a look at this footage Dutch posted today on Sakajurajima Volcano in Japan. There are strange orbs of lights that pulsate in an out with halos of blue and green. Don't look like lens spots or flares one bit.

Debbie, they remind me a lot of the footage you took that BEANOBLACK zoomed in on. I think they are more of the UFO sightings we've been seeing more and more of. And the main orb is just on the horizon of the volcano and it looks like a large planetary body, a lot like the large planetary body we've been seeing pictures of next to the sun the past few days.

BTW, I watched Deep Impact last night and they depicted the comet Wolf-Biederman, aka ELE as a large planetary body right next to the sun looking exactly like youtube footage all over the world people are posting.

Just strange, that's all. Where is Obama anyway?

Didn't we hear that he was to be in Denver today? Of course the day is only half over, I guess?

Something else I found last night, not sure if it's Elenin, astroid, meteor. I see the tetrahedron, then something that look like the real thing, but what exactly it is, not sure.

Observe Mira, the Amazing Star

Frequent Sky & Telescope contributor Alan Whitman (most recently author of Beyond the Familiar Veil) points out that the variable star Mira is at or near its peak brightness. Alan estimates it at magnitude 2.3, and some reports to the AAVSO place it as bright as 2.1. Either way, it's about as bright as it's been in living memory.

What I find particulary interesting is that:

Mira's discarded gases form a comet-like tail more than 2° long that glows brightly in the far ultraviolet.

I'll be out looking for it.

I walked out to the road (highway) to watch the sunset without trees in the way, took some pics over a 15 minute period. Anyone have a clue what is in these pictures? At first I thought it was a airplane but a airplane doesn't stay in the same area like that for 15 minutes. Satellite? I think I will walk back there again tomorrow if it's clear out again, see if I spot it again.

Debbie, the only object I saw besides the sun is about 10:00, a very large bright body that sets with the sun. Way too big to be a star. Was the what you're talking about? Not a lens flare, not a sun dog.

No, I think, but not sure, that is lens flare...the object I am talking about is enlarged at the end of the video...it kind of looks like a pole in front of the sun on the right hand side and at the top of this pole looking thing is what I thought at first was a airplane, make the video full screen, you can see it better. There is no pole there in reality. It even changes location of where it is at in front of the sun.

Okay. I saw it. I thought it was an eagle perching on top of a telephone pole. It's not really there? When I looked again, I realized this pole towers way way above the other telephone poles and it has vertical antennas but no wires, plus it's not in light with the other ones or connected to them. Then I thought it was a communications tower, like a cell antenna. It almost looks like it's a tall pole coming from the roof of a 2 story building. Is that a building in front of the sun or are they trees? It seems like it wasn't there at the beginning and then appeared? It is waay to tall to be a pole of some kind.

My brain just interpreted it as a telephone pole first time through until I looked again closely. No way. What is it?

When I looked again, I realized this pole towers way way above the other telephone poles and it has vertical antennas but no wires, plus it's not in light with the other ones or connected to them. It's trees. No tall buildings around here at all....Nope, that pole is not really there. lol odd huh? It sure looks like a pole. I have no clue what it is, even my son looked at the pictures and said there is nothing over there that looks like that.

Now I feel dumb lol. I just walked over there again and took a look, and there is a pole there. I don't know when that was put there, but it's there. And here I was starting to think it was like that mirage perhaps in china. We need a embarrassed smilie. Maybe it's always been there and I just never noticed I don't know, maybe it's new, I haven't been down that way for awhile.

I'll have to look and see if I can see it. I see Jupiter big and bright in the sky at night.
