  • Hurricane season starts; Some cities overdue

The hurricane season officially begins Wednesday, and it apparently won't be an easy one for forecasters. But one expert said typically hurricane-free cities may be overdue for a major storm.

This year, the National Hurricane Center is expecting the storm season to be busier than usual: up to 18 named tropical storms, with three to six of them major hurricanes.

Last year was the third-most active season on record, with 19 named storms, 12 of which became hurricanes. But only one gave the U.S. any problems.

Cities overdue for hurricanes......... every year the odds are the same that a certain place will get hit....... places like Key West have their odds so does Boston or San Diego.........

Its a lot like the roulette table in Vegas....... every time the wheel spins, you have one chance in 38 of winning, regardless of what the last winning numbers were ...... which is why they only pay 36 to one

Now the Key West natives have their own lyrics to the song "on the road again"

their version goes "in the zone again" ((the hurricane warning zone ))

Pretty rare for the west coast to get a hurricane, isn't it? Seems the weather patterns would have to be really weird for one to hit out that way but...I sure could be wrong.

I have heard of them on the west of Mexico and that area, but I think the waters are too cold and too much ocean for them to hit much above that I would think.

They have hurricanes in the Pacific. Most of them "hit" Mexico or Central America. California and Arizona receive heavy rain from them. Several years ago, they had a hurricane in SW Arizona. The Weather channel, CNN and other media came to witness it. It wasn't as strong as they predicted but the winds were strong and the area flooded.
